Note: Some clubs discussed this and liked the idea of a Midland Jumper, but concerns were
raised about the cost to clubs/parents in purchasing jumpers.
Kaye Blanchard noted that the Midland Zone colours are orange with black trim therefore
any jumpers used will need to be orange.
Due to this it was discussed and no further action will be taken as of now.

President Report:
Welcome to Ali & Julianne from Castlemaine Pony Club to the Zone meeting.
Thank you to Donald Pony Club for hosting the Zone SJ and Flat ride event, it was a
great venue and the small crew at Donald done a marvellous job in getting the
grounds up to scratch and helping to make the day run smoothly. Thank you to the St
Arnaud Pony Club for loaning their Show Jump equipment for this event and for all
the people who helped on the day.
It was great to see a flat team from Horsham Pony Club at this event as well.

Zone Rep Report:
3 - 4 Challenge went well with 5 grade 3 riders from the zone (4 in a team and 1 in a
composite team) and 8 grade 4 riders (2 Teams)
All riders rode well and made the Midland Zone proud. It was a great weekend with
everyone having fun.
Some riders had Midland Zone helmet covers and they were great to look at and
would be a nice addition to the Zone uniform.
Kaye expressed concerns regarding grading for this event especially at the grade 4
level. It was noted that there were many experienced riders on big horses competing
in grade 4 that should have been in grade 3.
Concerns were raised about the scoring at the 3-4 challenge and how the system
decided at State council was changed on the day.
There are voting ballots sent out for the PCAV President position. Kaye gave an over
view of each candidate and said that she strongly backed Phillip Cobbledick as he is a
strong believer in the Pony Club movement.
Clubs are encouraged to contact Kaye with any questions about the nominees
State Games survey will close early September. All clubs are asked to part in the
survey as there is a very strong push to replace the present games format with the
NMG format.

2013 PCAV State Dressage & SJ Championships (Midland Zone)
Venues viewed for the above event:





Horsham Showgrounds – to small
Avoca Racetrack – to expensive
St Arnaud – Logistic issues
Bendigo Racetrack - Logistic issues
Carisbrook – ticks all the boxes, but will need to water the grounds for 4 weeks
coming up to the event if it’s a dry summer.
Agreed by all that Carisbrook Trotting Track will be the venue to be used.

General Business
DCI ZA panel – Kaye Blanchard raised concerns regarding the DCI ZA panel and
its lack of members. The committee has had members resign and others who do not
attend meetings and this has made this panel non productive.
To boost numbers Kaye has suggested that the meetings be moved to the Bendigo
region so that others are encouraged to attend. There are only 3 meetings per year.
Kaye noted that the zone executive are automatically members of the DCI ZA panel
and should be attending meetings.
Clubs have been asked to put names forward (and will be asked again) for this
committee remembering they should be club members and follow the PCAV
guidelines and ethics.
Once more ZA are in place Kaye wants to see club visits begin again within the Zone.
It was agreed that the DCI ZA meeting will be held at Marong hotel to try to
encourage new members.
AGM – will take place at Seppels 863 room Great Western. Troy Cole will be the
guest speaker. 2 course meal at $35.00 per head. Flyers will be sent out ASAP.
Zone Event Dates: Clubs need to be reminded that the dates for 2013 need to be
submitted to the Zone by the October meeting.
Zone Dates for 2013: Kaye will work out the 2013 dates.
Linda raised concerns that the Zone Calender is very full in the first half of the year
and with Charlton/Bealiba running a Horse Trial before State Qualifying date closing
it will be even busier. Linda moved that the Zone HT be moved to the end of May to
free up the calendar and take the pressure off the clubs running their own HT and
the Zone HT before qualifiers. This would bring the Zone HT closer to the 3-4
challenge and make selections easier. This was discussed and will be looked into and
discussed at the next meeting.
Speed to Safety (track work)
Kaye discussed this and explained that Lisa Coffee is available to run training days in
this area.
As this has become a State Event again the Midland Zone will run training days and a
qualifying event. Dates will be added to the Midland Zone Calender.
