A proposed Social Education Platform to help Millions of Nigerians
Offline to connect to Knowledge based Economy through the Internet.
I am Daniel Anyikaeme the conveyner of the Nigernet initiative with
the goal of providing millions Nigerians who are offline daily with
free access to a collaborative social online education experience
Through a handheld device via our applications installed on their
mobile phones.
We intend to achieve this by collaborations with various partners.
We will work with the Nigerian government, A telecommunication
firm, Educational content provider (Such as Coursera.org,
Allison.org e.t.c.) to develop a Mass Open online course platform to
provide Nigerians with free, high-quality, localized educational
content and create a social learning experience that is accessible is
credible and accessible through a hand held device. We are
developing this idea based on the fact that we want to reach out to
the remaining 100 Million Nigerians who are probably offline on
daily basics leveraging on the available resources to achieve our
targets. Our platform is been designed such that course work and
assignment could be done submitted in a hitch free manner even in
various local Nigerian Language such as Pigin Igbo, Hausa, Yoruba.
Nigernet is about working in collaboration with partners to remove
barriers to access free educational content to Millions of Nigerians
who are offline daily the power to connect to the knowledge based
economy online.
“SocialEDU remains our best channel to have this kind of
collaborations achieved.” At its core, SocialEDU addresses four
critical barriers to access by bringing together:

Free educational content

Affordable smartphones

Localized, social educational experience

A government/international bodies that supports innovation
Normally these types of apps consume a great deal of bandwidth to
work properly. To ensure the success of the app in Nigeria, Zenith
Mobile is providing engineering support to guarantee that the app
creates a social experience that is optimized for a low-bandwidth
environment. While True living conference would handle the front
end of the development bridging the gap between the users and the
developers through social awareness creation, event and Idea
management.
Value of a Connected Nigeria.
from our finding and projection it shows clearly that the Value of
Connectivity in Nigeria which includes closing the connectivity gap. And
ensuring we get a connected life in Nigeria by expanding internet access in
Nigeria to levels seen today in developed economies, could increase
productivity by as much as 13 percent, and generate additional estimated $8
Billion in GDP and create about 1 million new jobs, lifting 1.21 million people
out of poverty line.
Kind Regards
