ABSTRACT This research study focused on the relationship between democratic governance and social security provision with regard to the present fourth republic and Ilorin metropolis was chosen as the case study of the research. It looks at impact of democratic government on social, fiscal and occupational welfare of Nigerians and also whether social security provision has led to redistribution of income and wealth among Nigerians. The data was gathered through probability sampling methods. The questionnaire was randomly administered within my population of study. Simple percentage method was first used to present and analyzed the data collected and the chi-square (X2) method was used to test the four hypotheses. The final result of findings revealed that, the Nigerian government needs to do a lot more in order to fulfill the expectation of the vast majority from democratic governance. The social security services should be extended to cover all Nigerians irrespective of the social status.
