University of Alaska Anchorage Greek Council Executive Board Member Application Greek Council serves to oversee the operations of all University of Alaska Anchorage fraternal organizations. The Council is the officially recognized governing and communication body for University of Alaska Anchorage Greek Affairs. The Council serves as a liaison between Greek organizations affiliated with University of Alaska Anchorage and the administration, faculty, and nonGreek students at University of Alaska Anchorage. It also provides leadership for and regulation of Greek organizations affiliated with University of Alaska Anchorage. Criteria for Eligibility: Currently meet all membership requirements as set forth by your respective membership organization Must be able to fulfill one calendar year commitment Have time to commit 2-3 hours per week for responsibilities outside of normally scheduled Greek Council meetings Must be able to attend weekly meetings at 11am on Fridays (meetings are 1-1 ½ hour time frame) Must be enrolled in at least three credits Be an active member of your membership organization Not currently holding a position as your chapter’s President Positions Available: President The President shall: A. Have overall responsibility for the operation of the Greek Council. B. Call and preside at all regular and special meetings of the Greek Council. C. Call and preside at all meetings of the Greek Council Executive Board. D. The enforcement of the provisions of the Greek Council Constitution and Bylaws and any provisions, expectations, and regulations as put forth by all other National Greek Organizations, such as but not limited to the National Panhellenic Conference, Interfraternity Council, and the Association of Fraternity Advisors. E. Review, approve, and sign all approved Council purchasing and payroll documents, in conjunction with the Treasurer and the Greek Council Advisor. F. Be able to serve as an ex-officio member to all Council committees. G. Act as the main communication link between external groups and the Greek Council. H. Attend Officer and other trainings as mandated by Office of Student Clubs and Greek Life. I. Perform all other duties as needed for this office. Vice President The Vice President shall: A. Perform the duties of the president in his/her absence or inability to serve, or at his/her Request. B. In the event that the presidency is vacated, the vice president shall act as president until such time as the position is filled. C. Keep order at all meetings as according to Robert’s Rules of Order, Newly Revised. D. Serve as the Chair of the Tribunal and Programming Committee. E. Attend Officer and other trainings as mandated by Office of Student Clubs and Greek Life. F. Perform all other duties as needed for this office. Secretary The Secretary shall: A. Keep an up-to-date roll of the members of the Greek Council and call it at all Council meetings. B. Keep full written minutes of all meetings of the Greek Council and a written record of all action taken by the Executive Board. C. Maintain a complete and up-to-date file, which will include all Council meeting minutes and correspondence, from the date of the Greek Council's origin, including keeping and updating Greek Council Constitution and Bylaws. D. Be responsible for the official correspondence of the Greek Council. E. Keep current records concerning the membership of each Greek organization, as well as the semi-annual status reports. F. Assist all Greek Council members with brochures, advertisements, publications, and in conjugation with the President, also approve them. G. Assist in inter-Greek communications. H. Perform all other duties as needed for this office. Treasurer The Treasurer shall: A. Ensure compliance to all Council and University policies regarding the finances of the Greek Council. B. Prepare and present the Council budget to the Greek Council by the first meeting of each semester. C. Implement the Greek Council budget, as approved by the Greek Council. D. Receive all payments due to the Greek Council, collect all dues, give receipts, and make deposits. E. Arrange for prompt payment of all approved bills of the Greek Council. F. Maintain up-to-date financial records, give a financial report at each regular Council meeting, and give an annual report at the close of their terms of office. G. Turn over all records to be audited by the Executive Board at the close of their terms of office. H. Sign Council-purchasing documents when authorized to do so. I. Attend Officer and other trainings as mandated by Office of Student Clubs and Greek Life. J. Perform all other duties as needed for this office. Recruitment Chair The Recruitment Chair shall: A. Coordinate all Greek Recruitment efforts for the expansion of Greek Life. . B. Communicate with recruitment chairs of all Greek organizations. C. Design brochures and advertisements for Greek Council and Greek Life. D. Increase positive Public Relations between Non-Greek Organizations and Greek Organizations. E. Be aware of the University’s posting policies or any other agreements as it relates to media and the disbursements of information. F. Chair the Public Relations and Recruitment Committee when needed. G. Perform all other duties as needed for this office. Fundraising Chair The Fundraising Chair shall: Coordinate with the Treasurer fundraising events throughout the semester. A. Contact delegates from each Greek Organization for fundraising and philanthropic dates and events. B. Coordinate at least one fundraising event per semester. C. Chair the Fundraising Committee when needed. D. Perform all duties as needed for this office. USUAA Representative The USUAA Representative Shall: A. Report to USUAA on Greek council and all Greek organizational activities B. Report to Greek council on all Greek relevant USUAA topics. C. Serve on USUAA’s activities committee. D. Perform all other duties as needed for this office.
