Pupils learn about pitch, duration, structure, tempo, dynamics, timbre and texture. They will be introduced to musical notation, and complete a group composition and a solo performance. Pupils reinforce their knowledge of musical notation. Solo performance, solo composition and listening work is assessed. Assessment 2: 33.3% performing, 33.3% listening, 33.3% composition. Half term 3. This unit continues into half term 4, by varying amounts depending on class progress. Half term 4-5. Half term 5-6 Listening to Music. Pupils are introduced to a wide variety of music, including world music, classical music and pop. Solo performance, solo composition and listening work is assessed. A group rap is performed. Pupils are given the chance to experiment with existing compositions, to develop deeper compositional understanding. Solo performance, solo composition and listening work is assessed.
