Room Parent Role
The role of a Room Parent is to provide support and assistance to the teacher, as well as plan the holiday and end
of the year parties. It is suggested that each classroom have a minimum of two to three Room Parents.
As a team, the Room Parents are responsible for:
• Collecting and managing classroom funds
• Facilitating classroom parties (planning, communicating with parents and teachers, running the events,
cleaning-up)
• Coordinating classroom volunteers
• Planning, communicating, and acting on teacher appreciation activities (birthday, teacher appreciation
month, holiday gift, end of year gift)
• Communicating between teacher and parents as needed
• Requesting parents to help with Thursday papers
Being a room parent is GREATLY appreciated by the teachers and is a wonderful way for you to get to know the
other parents in your child’s class. Thank you for your time and for being willing to help!

Classroom Room Responsibilities by Grade
Kindergarten Room Parents will enlist the parents to help with:
1. Art Helper  Volunteers assist the art teacher during class time throughout the year
2. Mystery Parent Reader  volunteers go to the classroom to read a few books to the class (you
can bring books or read some from the class)
3. Thursday Papers volunteers
4. Science Zone volunteers
5. Zero the Hero – every 10 days a class is responsible for providing a treat for the entire grade
(about 120) – need to coordinate same treat to be distributed
6. Young Authors volunteers
7. Class Photographer
8. Student book order
9. Winter Party
10. 100 Day Celebration
11. Teacher Appreciation Month coordination
12. Valentine’s Day Treat coordination
13. End of the Year Party
First Grade
1. Art Helper  goes to the Art Room and assists the Art Teacher with the class

3. Snowman Pancakes volunteers
4. Mystery Parent Reader  goes to the classroom to read a few books to the class (you can bring
