Daniel Schmidt ASUWB Senior Senator Winter 2014 Quarterly Report dschmidt@uwb.edu | UW1-011 Senatordan.wordpress.com Winter 2014 Quarterly Report Winter quarter 2014 was my second quarter in the Associated Students of University of Washington, Bothell (ASUWB). For ASUWB I was still one of the two Senior Senators. During that quarter I learned many more things about ASUWB. In addition I contributed too many aspects of ASUWB. All quarter I attended every Tuesday 8-10am ASUWB meeting. For those meetings we stilled used Roberts’s rule of order. At those meetings is where we conducted official Student Government business which included discussing and voting on Student of the Month, Student Academic Enhancement Fund (SAEF) awards, and munch more. During winter quarter I was still part of the Student Technologies Fee Committee (STF). For STF we meet the first and third Friday of every month from 9-11am. STF is a committee that gathers and votes on proposals for student technology on campus. That quarter we went through our first cycle of proposals. With the proposals we had the groups come in and answer some question we had about their proposals. After that we voted on what to approve from the proposals we had. Also during winter quarter I was a member of the SAEF committee which helped fix the SAEF award application, make recommendations on the SAEF applicants, and helped decide how people awarded the SAEF award were going to present their information from the conference they attended back to the university. Another thing I did was work with a few team members of ASUWB and set up a lobby day in Olympia which I attended. The lobby day was on February 17 which was Presidents day. Everyone attending the lobby day met at school and rode down to Olympia in an Ucar together. In Olympia we met and talked to a few state legislators about the issues important to our university. Then we rode back to campus in the Ucar. Also during that quarter I joined the 5K committee. The 5K is run, walk, and field day event in early May put on by the Alumni Association to raise money for student scholarships. This year the 5K is on Saturday May 10. Another project I did that quarter was stories behind the students which is a segment where students tell their stories about how they got to UW Bothell and there plans after UW Bothell. Finally during winter quarter I took down and put up posters around the campus for ASUWB.
