You would have had to take in His knowledge – meaning, you would have heard His teaching and began implementing the principles. b. You would have come to know Him (Jesus) by experience. You can recognize or understand completely who He is as His spoken words breathe life into your spirit. Matthew 16:15-16, NIV; John 6:63, AMP A ‘relationship’ is a connection, an association, or involvement. a. It’s a connection between persons by blood or marriage; kinship. b. It can be an emotional or other connection between people. c. Relationships are romantic or sexual involvements. A. Your ‘relationship’ with God isn’t emotionally felt or sensually acquired. You can’t worship God if you’re not spiritually open to acquire His presence. John 4:24, NIV ; John 4:24, Message Bible Your relationship with God begins when you are spiritually activated by the Holy Spirit with a revelation of the reality of His truth in Jesus. 1 Corinthians 2:11, AMP Your spirit was regenerated to make it acceptable for you to communicate with God. Regeneration is a spiritual or rebirth revitalization of your dead spirit which has been quickened (made alive) to hear and see God. John 3:5-6, NIV ; John 3:6-7, Message Bible Without experiencing the regeneration of your spirit you would have never been able to distinguish the natural world from the spirit world. 2 Corinthians 4:6, AMP; 2 Corinthians 4:6, Message Bible 1. Your spirit is quickened or made alive to live on earth in a position of authority to exercise God’s Kingdom liberation. Kingdom liberation denounces all connections with darkness to be nullified by right of Jesus’ position of authority sitting at the right hand of God. Ephesians 2:5-6, AMP 2 2. B. Jesus authorized you and me into a position of authority by making us alive through the Holy Spirit. Romans 8:10, AMP We are delivered from sin and death to live in righteousness. Colossians 2:13-14, AMP The law of sin and death is powerless in us because another has surpassed our inefficiency to right living or righteousness. Romans 8:2, NIV ‘Developing a relationship with God’ is accessible but only to those who have positioned their ‘spirit’ in His presence. These individuals are yearning to have Him consume them and to have the reflection of His glory change the inner image of their being. 2 Corinthians 3:18, AMP Knowing God has everything to do with you taking His Word and allowing the Word to be a reflection on your spirit. God’s Word is reflected to you by the Holy Spirit. This is what you may call the inter working of the Holy Spirit to sanctify you wholly. 1 Thessalonians 5:23, NKJV 1. You develop a relationship with God having a mutual understanding. God watches you in your approach toward Him. He is looking for your sincerity and the hunger you have for His presence. James 4:8-10, AMP If and when you choose to draw near to God there’s magnetically a spiritual pull from Him. To comply with His ‘will’ and His Word, as an act of your love. John 14:23, NIV 2. You getting closer to God is a personal pursuit of the heart. Your ‘will’ to know God automatically causes you to seek for purity within your heart. Matthew 5:8, NIV Matthew 5:8, Message Bible 3. Closeness to God is a relationship of pure honesty, meaning your feeling haven’t clouded your thoughts. Hebrews 10:22, AMP Your heart (your inner person) is sending waves of sincerity toward God. Your thoughts are pure because you think the best of every situation though the evidence of the worst is before you. You have decided to pursue God and the truth in seeking Him. John 16:13, NIV 3 Your desire to know God goes far beyond knowing about God. Knowing God changes you in more ways than you can imagine: a. You become insensitive toward your old life. b. You develop a hunger for righteousness. c. You understand the weaknesses of human nature. d. You are merciful, loving and kind. e. You put others before yourself. f. You are faithful in serving God. g. You are concerned about the needs of others. h. You minister Christ Jesus as Lord in how you live each day. Conclusion: ‘Developing a relationship with God’ is vital to your stability and survival. If you are to weather life’s most difficult moments, God has to be a part of your equation to finding solutions. Your relationship with God is personal and it’s built on a heartfelt pursuit which pushes you to change completely. There is nothing to replace what God does in life. No one can give you what needed to define the meaning of your existence outside of God.
