Year 5 Autumn 1 Term Homework! This is additional homework from the weekly tasks your children will receive. It isn’t compulsory however we would like at least 4 completed challenges by the end of term. If you need any resources to complete the task just ask Mr Hill, also we can print any electric presentations. £ Our topic this term is all about the United Kingdom - rewards given: Extra Hot 10pts, Hot 7pts, Mild 4pts and Extra Mild 2pts. Information Video Create a video of your home town and talk about what you think are its best points - for Accrington you can go to several locations and film 20 seconds at a time in Oak Hill Park, top of the Coppice, Highams playground, the Cinema, Market Hall, Accrington Stanley etc. All videos will be uploaded to our Year 5 website! Football Choose a football team from these shores and design a poster identifying the club’s history, including: Titles won, biggest crowd, most expensive player, when they were formed, what strip they wear, most famous fan, famous result etc. Food map: Design a poster/map informing and indicating where food comes from in the U.K. – like Chedder Cheese, Melton Mowbray pies, Lancashire Hot Pot. Geography Find out about the most famous rivers, mountains or castles in the United Kingdom and create a presentation about them. Food Find a famous U.K. recipe (like a scone) and present it as a poster showing instructions on how to make it, using images or drawings or even better make it and bring it in for everybody to sample! Go one step further and create a menu of British food. Music Create a rap or song about famous things or people from the U.K.: famous places, famous celebrities, historical figures, inventors, sports people 3D design Choose and recreate a U.K. landmark – for example Draw/paint Big Ben on a rectangular cardboard box. History Choose, research and present a famous individual from British History. Bird/animal Research and choose and famous bird/animal from the U.K. and design an information poster showing all about them. Design a flag Design a flag which would represent your own country including your own motto. Think about colours, patterns, design and an emblem. History/Geography Produce a poster showing where the most famous castles are in the United Kingdom.
