Aquatic Center Rules
1. Everyone must take a soap shower prior to entering the Family Aquatic Center. No lotions or
oils permitted.
2. No running on deck. No rough play allowed. Be respectful of others.
3. Swimmers must be wearing a lined swimsuit. No thong swimsuits. Rash guard, water and
surf shirts are acceptable but any cotton t-shirt must be white.
4. No glass bottles or containers are allowed in the Aquatic Center. Food and drink must stay in
the concession area. No gum or candy is allowed in the aquatic center.
5. No hanging on the safety ropes or lane lines.
6. Lifeguards may require patrons to demonstrate swim skills before entering the deep end.
7. Front dives are permitted in the deep end only. Flips are not allowed. Otherwise, enter the
water feet first.
8. Chewing on or tearing apart noodles is prohibited.
9. Children age 7 and under are permitted on the Interactive Play Area.
10. Children under the age of 5 must be within reaching distance of their parent or guardian at
all times.
11. Children age 8 and above are able to swim without a parent or guardian present. Children
under the age of 8 must be accompanied by an adult 18 years of age or older.
12. Public displays of affection are not permitted in the Aquatic Center.
13. Untrained children must wear YMCA/Illinois Department of Public Health approved nondisposable swim diapers.
14. No jumping into or across the Lazy River. No standing, sitting, climbing over or walking on
the concrete peninsulas.
15. No water wings are allowed in Family Aquatic Center only Coast Guard approved lifejackets
are permitted. Children with flotation devices are not allowed on Big Blue Slide. Children
with floatation devices must be within reach of adults at all times.
16. Use of the Aquatic Center while under the influence of alcohol, tobacco, tranquilizers or other
drugs is prohibited.
17. Upon hearing the blast of the air horn, the water must be evacuated and patrons will
sit/stand on the deck until the guard signals them to re-enter the water.
Slide Rules
1. Only one rider at a time shall be allowed to enter the slide.
2. You must be taller than 42 inches to ride the slide.
3. Follow the instructions of the slide attendant.
4. Wait until the slide attendant informs you that the landing area is clear before entering and
proceeding down the slide.
5. Slide in a sitting position or on your back only.
6. Slide feet first. No head first sliding.
7. Do not attempt to stop on the slide.
8. Warning: Water depth is 3.5 feet
9. No running, standing, kneeling, rotating, tumbling, or stopping on the slide. No diving from
the slide.
10. Keep your hands inside the slide.
11. No PFD’s allowed on the slide. (Noodles included)
12. The slide is not recommended for pregnant women.
Whirlpool Rules
1. Must have lined swimsuit to enter.
2. Must shower before entering. Use of lotions and body oils is prohibited.
3. Pregnant women, elderly persons, infants and persons requiring medical care, or suffering
from high or low blood pressure should not enter the spa/hot tub without a prior medical
consultation and permission from their doctor.
4. Children under six years of age are not permitted. Children ages 6-15 must be accompanied
by a parent or guardian to enter. Parents are responsible for keeping children respectful of
others.
5. Children must be 16 to use adult facility by themselves.
6. Long exposure may result in nausea, dizziness or fainting. The maximum recommended
exposure time is 20 minutes.
7. Keep breakable objects out of the area.
8. No jumping into whirlpool is allowed.
9. Use of the spa while under the influence of alcohol, tranquilizers or other drugs or medicines
that may cause drowsiness or may lead to serious consequences is prohibited.
10. Do not use at water temperatures greater than 104 degrees F.
11. Do not use alone.
12. All Aquatic Center rules apply to the whirlpool.
Steam Room/Dry Sauna Rules
1. A soap shower is required prior to entering the steam room/Dry Sauna and after usage. No
lotions or oils are permitted.
2. Swim apparel must be worn in the steam room/dry sauna at all times.
3. Shoes are not allowed in Steam Room/Dry Sauna.
4. Use of steam room/Dry Sauna by the children under the age of 14 is prohibited.
5. Pregnant women, elderly persons, infants and persons requiring medical care of suffering
from high or low blood pressure should not enter the steam room/Dry Sauna without a prior
medical consultation and permission from their doctor.
6. Use of the steam room/Dry Sauna while under the influence of alcohol, tranquilizers or other
drugs or medicines that may cause drowsiness or may lead to serious consequences is
prohibited.

exposure time is 10 minutes.
8. Keep all breakable objects out of the area.
9. Shaving is not allowed in the steam room/Dry Sauna.
