Ancient Greek Architecture In the world, the most important things for humans are food, water, air, gravity, fire and shelter. Before the years were counted, people use to build houses simply for shelter. As the time passed, people started to build their houses and temples with simple designs. As time went on, people stated to develop their designs more. That’s how architecture started. Architecture isn’t the building; it is designing the building using art and science. Ancient Greek Architecture has the most complicated details, and noble designs. Even modern day buildings are influenced by ancient Greek Architecture. Ancient Greek Architecture has 5 types of the architecture styles. These are Doric, Ionic, Corinthian, Tuscan, and Composite styles. The Doric style is one of the architecture styles that have thick columns with no platform and circular cone shaped column. Corinthian style has very complicated details with the top of column carved as acanthus (bear’s – breech). Acanthus is a plant with a leaf that looks like a feather. Ionic style has a separated shaft with the platform. Also the top of the column carved as ‘egg and dart’. Egg and dart is one of the carving styles that looks egg and dart shaped. Tuscan style has very simple design of the column. This type of style has none of the lines on the column with simple platform. The last style in ancient Greek is Composite style. That style has been mixed with Ionic with Corinthian styles. So that style of architecture carved as acanthus and egg and dart. The most popular architecture style of ancient Greek in modern day is the Doric, Ionic, and Corinthian styles. Each of the styles has its own beauty. Greek Architecture influenced most of the modern world and people are using it now. The ancient Greek Architecture influenced modern day architecture by the styles of ancient Greek Architecture its meaningful design style. In U.S, there are a lot of government buildings with ancient Greek Architecture. The reason why U.S government buildings are using the ancient Greek Architecture is to represent that the U.S government type is democracy and the ancient Greek Architecture represents first democracy. The secondary reason is to represent how important the buildings are. Many countries in the western world use the Greek Architecture style on their buildings. The last reason why the US government uses the style is to represent that the U.S’s grandeur is similar to the grandeur of Ancient Greek. The biggest example of using ancient Greek Architecture is the ‘White House’. The most popular architecture style in modern day is ancient Greek Architecture. Even though it has been changed, people around the world still prepare the styles ancient Greek Architecture. The biggest reason is grandeur of the architecture styles and that it represents the first democracy. People are still using ancient Greek Architecture on their houses, temples, and apartments. Even the government buildings have been designed in ancient Greek Architecture. Ancient Greek Architecture is old, but still people use ancient Greek Architecture in many ways.
