Cognitive Medical’s Project Scope Statement Review VA contracted with Cognitive Medical to develop 3 Service Interface specifications that conform to HL7 HSSP Service Functional Model guidelines. Deliver to the VA as part of the project. The deliverables will be run through the HL7 process. The services are: Clinical event publish and subscribe service o Supports SFM paradigm at HSSP. o Service for publishing and allowing consumers to subscribe to clinical events using a pub/sub paradigm. Run thru HSSP wiki. o Calls starting May 2 o Leverage user presence in secure messaging room allowing pharm techs to ask questions and receive notifications. o Patient scheduling system with time slots for booking clerks. o Support flexible architectures within the network to empower consumers of a particular topic. o Call Thursday afternoons starting May 1. o Is the service only available to patients? It is intended to be a general spec that allows any data producer to publish its data into channels or topics and allow any consumer who meets the requirements to subscribe to those channels and be pushed information when it is available. o Why is HL7 interested? Why not a general pub/sub service? Might be extensions to existing standards that define topics or attributes of the data that might be published. Make the services more consumable in a standards-based way. o Results of this project – create new standard or implementation guide – whatever is necessary. Get those words into the scope statement. o Mark Kramer interested in helping with the project. Communication Service o Still trying to name the spec. It is a unified communication service that is designed to provide the ability to deliver a notification using a variety of transport mechanisms. o Will start May 23 and will be run with an HSSSp wiki page. o Endpoint Locator Service in Australia – find someone familiar with ELS to work on this. Emory talk to Andy Bond. o Emory has not thought about the work in terms of Direct. o Will have to determine how this works overlaps with current HL7 work. Orders and observation service o Ordering service will pull ordering capability from multiple services into a middle tier. o Victor interested in learning more.
