She is available for all requests that will be lifted in prayer by members on the prayer line. Passing through the Holy Door is a symbol of leaving the past behind and crossing the threshold from sin to grace, from slavery to freedom, and from darkness to light. Pope Francis has extended to everyone who passes through a Holy Door the opportunity to receive a Jubilee Indulgence, a gift from the treasury of graces possessed by the Church. The Year of Mercy logo will be displayed on our church for the entire year. OPENING OF THE HOLY DOOR Today, Sunday, December 13th, at the 10:00am Mass we will bless and open the Holy Door in our parish. The Celebration of this Mass will begin outdoors, beginning with the Blessing of the Holy Door, the opening of the Door, and the entrance into the Church through the Door. Please bring your family and friends. YEAR OF MERCY The Year of Mercy began on December 8, 2015. As part of the celebration of the Year of Mercy and our parish having one of the 13 Holy Doors in our Diocese, we will have a Mass every Wednesday at 12:10 beginning this week until November 2016. After Mass confessions will be available until 1:00PM. OPLATKI Opłatki, the traditional Christmas Wafer, is now available in the basket at the St. Francis altar. In thanksgiving for your generosity to the parish over the past year, please take one or two packages of Opłatki. No donation is required. CHRISTMAS CAROL 2015 Our Annual Christmas Carol Festival 2015 will be sponsored by Divine Mercy Parish on December 13th at Saint Stanislaus Auditorium at 1:30. The main focus of this Festival is to welcome fallen away Catholics back to the Faith through Christmas carols and sharing of their own Christmas Stories. Please consider bringing some of your family, friends and neighbors to share in the Christmas Joy. THIRD SUNDAY OF ADVENT Reflection: Rejoice! Here is your God! As the feast of Christmas draws closer, we are reminded that the Lord is with us even now. Jesus came to give sight to blind and life to the dead. Christ’s reign is among us through our deeds of love and generosity. Let us not grow weary, but steady our hearts and rejoice, for Lord is close at hand! Light three candles including the rose colored one. Scripture: “Rejoice in the Lord always! I say it again. Rejoice! Everyone should see how unselfish you are. The Lord is near” Prayer: Jesus, you are the light of the world. May your light shine brightly so we can see you everywhere. Help us to spread your light and joy by giving freely and happily to all we meet. Response: Come, Lord Jesus! GIVING TREE Please take a tag from the tree and help someone who is in need. Please call Barbara at the parish office if you would like to adopt a family at this Christmas Season. Gifts are due under the tree by the weekend of December 13th. Please do not wrap your gifts. Thank you. RELIGIOUS RETIREMENT COLLECTION This weekend is the collection for the Religious Retirement Fund. We ask for your generosity which will benefit those priests, sisters and brothers who have dedicated their lives to the service of the church. 629 A wonderful tradition during the Christmas and Epiphany season is the Blessing of Homes. The Blessing includes a prayer that God will protect your family during the coming year, the house is sprinkled with holy water and the names of the Three Kings who visited and worshipped the Infant Jesus in Bethlehem are written above the lintel of the main door with blessed chalk (Caspar, Melchior, and Balthasar). If you wish to have your house blessed, please complete the form below and return it in the collection basket or drop it off at the Parish Office. The Blessing will begin after January 1, 2016. Thank You!
