Cara’s Kids Competition Contract Classes Each member of Cara’s Kids is required to take Ballet, Jazz, Pure Technique, and Turn & Leaps classes once a week, as well as any others style of dance in which they are competing. The amount required from each dancer will vary. Absences in Class As Cara’s Kids competition group members, you are not allowed to miss more than 2 absences per semester in each class. If you have exceeded that amount, you must make up those missed classes in order to be eligible to compete at the next competition or performance. If you provide the studio with a doctor’s note for an illness, you will not be counted absent for each individual class, you will be given only one absence per day. Absences in Rehearsals As Cara’s Kids competition group members, three or more absences in a competition group rehearsal means automatic suspension from competition and performances until they have been cleared through the competition director. The only way to make up a missed rehearsal is by private or semi private lessons with the rehearsal instructor. This ensures that the dancer has been caught up on his or her missed corrections given to their team. This will be enforced after the 3rd absence from rehearsal. Class Make-Ups Miss a Class- Make Up a Class! Conventions All competition group dancers are required to attend one convention each competition season. These are weekend convention where dancers have the opportunity to take a variety of classes in all dance styles from dance teachers. Dancers are required to take all classes, as a staff we believe well rounded dancers are the best dancers. Costs for these conventions begin around $215 and can go up to $300. We always stay over night in a hotel and those costs vary year to year. Conventions also have competition night that we will compete in as well. *Some dancers will be required to attend more at our discretion. Choreography For each dance, there will be a one-time choreography fee. Each choreographer’s fees are different. Typically small groups (4-8 dancers) are $100, large groups (9-14 dancers) $75, and Lines (14+ dancers) $50 per dancer. These do vary year-to-year and choreographer-to-choreographer. These prices are NOT guaranteed. Choreography fees are due at the time of choreography. Solo, Duo & Trio Choreography All Cara’s Kids dancers who have been in the Cara’s Kids program for one full year are eligible to do a solo, duo, or trio. This is NOT required. This is a way to highlight your dancers individual skills, as well as open another opportunity to perform more on stage. Extra expenses are choreography fees (varies with different teachers), costume (approved by a Cara’s Kids instructor) and entry fee (range from $90-$150 per competition). If you are choosing to use an outside choreographer, Cara Crawford must approve before learning the routine; this is for your dancer’s benefit.
