Key Responsibilities To undertake administrative duties for The Birchall Trust relating to the post. To carry out case management meetings with counsellors. To manage and maintain their own client caseload. To undertake and manage Safeguarding concerns for the children and vulnerable adults within The Birchall Trust. Assessing client referrals in line with The Birchall Trust constitution and policies/procedures. Maintain and assess client waiting lists. Allocate suitable clients to counsellors. To provide support to the Manager and the counselling team regarding their therapeutic work and ethical dilemmas. Ensure all counselling documentation is reviewed, revised and that it is being adhered in order to ensure good practice. Collating statistical information and recording data as appropriate as required by the Manager and fundraiser. Mentor student placements. Providing data to other agencies and responding to requests for information ensuring client anonymity and confidentiality is observed if requested by the Manager. Monitor mandatory checks of counsellors’ professional and legal/contractual requirements ensuring all information is up to date and valid. Monitor and maintain DBS checks and Safeguarding training. To assist Manager with training to counselling team and external professionals. To receive regular supervision and undertake any relevant training as appropriate. To travel across areas covered by the service as needed. Attend relevant meetings both internal and with other agencies. General To answer and initiate telephone calls dealing with both specific and general enquiries as required, maintaining a professional and empathic manner. Occasionally answering the door and greeting visitors. The post holder must maintain the confidentiality of information about clients and other services in accordance with The Birchall Trust’s policy. The post will be subject to regular annual staff development review. The post holder will be expected to keep themselves up to date on all matters relating to The Birchall Trust’s procedures and policy. The post holder must familiarise themselves with matters relating to health and safety management as affects them personally and/or The Birchall Trust, reporting any potential risks to life or property immediately in accordance with The Birchall Trust’s Health and Safety policy and procedures. They must use all equipment provided to undertake their role safely. Refrain from smoking in any area of The Birchall Trust’s premises. Essential Desirable Knowledge Extensive knowledge of person centre therapeutic theory, practice and interventions. x An understanding of the clinical supervision process. x Knowledge of issues affecting the mental health of individuals. x Extensive knowledge of sexual abuse therapy/service and working with survivors of sexual abuse. x x Sound understanding of team work and team building. Proficiency in using Microsoft Office package. x Ability to work on their own and/or as part of a team. x Ability to prioritise workload. x Flexible of working times if required. x Person Specification Essential Experience A minimum of one year post-qualification experience as a counsellor/psychotherapist. x Qualifications and Training Diploma/degree/MA in Counselling/psychotherapy. x Good standard of education, English – G.C.S.E or equivalent Grade C or above. x NVQ 3 Business and Administration and/or CLAIT Level 3 and/or ECDL. x Safeguarding training. x Membership of a recognised counselling regulatory body. An understanding and adherence to their ethical framework. x Desirable
