Explanatory Essay Writing Options
1. Compare/Contrast the two pieces of artwork. Artwork #1, Priscilla
Johnson, 1966 by Alice Neel. Artwork #2, The Seated Woman,
1917 by Egon Schiele. Using your knowledge of how to compare
and contrast, write an essay using these pieces of art.
2. Music has been said to soothe the soul. When music ‘soothes the
soul’ we must understand that our mind processes the events in a
sequential pattern. Relate music and those sequential patterns of
the brain to explain how in the end our soul is soothed.
Demonstrate your understanding by researching the effects of
brain damage via multiple avenues and/or how music therapy
impacts the processes of the brain. You may relate this to a
specific piece of music or music as a general statement.
3. Bridges are the gateway to avenues beyond the rivers, lakes, and
valleys. Demonstrate your understanding of the process related
to adequately creating a structure that can carry weight without
crumbling or compare/contrast the similarities and differences of
two or more bridges, their strengths/weaknesses and beyond; or
define and demonstrate understanding of the cause and effect
relationship between building materials and the land structures at
the sites of bridges.
4. Based on the Power Point presentation related to Egyptian
Government, compare/contrast; demonstrate the understanding
of the process; or expand upon the cause/effect relationship of
government components.
