From kindergarten to senior year, being a part of the Quaker Valley school community has been an adventure and I am grateful for the education, friendships, and memories I have made here. I am hard-working in my academics, kind to everyone around me, very school spirited, and dedicated to my activities. I have been highly involved in many activities within the school district and Sewickley community. For many of my 13 years at Quaker Valley, I have had perfect attendance. I have been in this school district since kindergarten and it’s become a part of who I am. I have built many friendships, and have gained many mentors throughout my time here. To be able to represent Quaker Valley, it would give me the opportunity to thank everyone who has made an impact on me, and making my high school years some of the best times in my life so far. I feel just as much Quaker pride when putting on my cross country pinny as I do when reading poetry for Bittersweet. At games you can find me cheering on student athletes, vuvuzela in hand. Two hours later, I’ll be curled up at home, glasses on, and calculating integrals. I’ve worked hard, had fun, and immersed myself in the culture and character of Quaker Valley. Crown or not, Quaker Valley has given me genuine friends, a quick wit, and has taught me how to be human. Extra Curricular Activities I have been a member of Key Club, Global Scholars and Student council since freshman year. As a junior, I was also a co-chair of the prom committee, a member of National Honors Society and a writer for the Quaker Quill. During my senior year, I served as a student representative to the school board, the design editor of the Quaker Quill, a member of the Global Scholars executive council and a co-chair of the Mr. Quaker Valley committee as part of my National Honors Society duties. I work as a Marketing Design Assistant at Studio B. Interior Designs and an employee at the Sewickley Confectionary. I have hosted three exchange students each from a different country and participated in a cultural exchange myself. Community Service / Community Activities 9-12 I participated in two two-week mission trips through the Presbyterian church of Sewickley to West Virginia and Virginia. I volunteered as a Counselor-intraining at YMCA Camp Kon-O-Kwee for seven weeks two summers ago. For my personal project I hosted a Locks of Love donation event where I collected sixty hair donations and five hundred dollars for the charity. As a member of Key Club, I volunteered at several events including the Harvest Festival and the Edgeworth Elementary story walk. I assist the Edgeworth Elementary art teacher, Mrs. Nina Strelec, with various art camps throughout the year. The class of 2015 has always been one of the bests, so it would such an honor to represent our grade. Extra Curricular Activities Throughout high school, I have been involved in cross-country, the musical, Key Club, French club, and student council. This year, I served as the president of National Honor Society and was a member of the Executive Council of the Global Scholars program at Quaker Valley. My name is Tianna and it means princess, so it’s a given. (Princess Tiana) 2. I have tried to be as involved as much as possible with school events and as a cheerleader I have tried to promote school spirit. 3. I am so thankful to be able to be apart of Quaker Valley and I would truly be proud to represent my school in this way. Extra-Curricular Activities I was a cheerleader for ten years, four at the high school level. I have participated in Ski Club, Track & Field, Yearbook, Art Club, and Key Club during various years. Last year, I was one of the leaders for Prom Committee and I helped plan and create the 2014 prom. Also, I work at the Sewickley Confectionery, where I serve delicious ice cream to my deserving customers. Last summer, I went to Peru with Mr. Haboush and some classmates on the service learning trip.
