The committee congratulates you for qualifying competitors to the 2015 Arkansas Tournament of
Champions! We are excited to host you this year at the historic Little Rock Central High School in
Little Rock, Arkansas on Friday, April 10 th – Saturday, April 11 th , 2015. Please read the following entry instructions carefully. If you have any questions, please contact Tim Peerbolte at tim.peerbolte@greenwoodk12.com.
Entry to the Arkansas Tournament of Champions will be done through Joy of Tournaments. All entries will be checked against official qualifying-tournament records. For every entry, provide first and last names of each competitor. Below are the qualification methods for events as well as the entry guidelines for the ATOC:
Individual Events:
 Qualification occurs when a student breaks into Semifinals at any Arkansas qualifying tournament sanctioned by ACTAA and AAA during the current school year.
 NEW THIS YEAR: Students may enter every event for which they are qualified, HOWEVER,
NO ROUND WILL BE HELD FOR A STUDENT WHO MISSES AN EVENT. The round will end when it is scheduled to end, and there will be no performances allowed after that time.
 Pattern A: International Extemp, Domestic Extemp, Prose, Duet Acting, Humorous
Interpretation, Mime
 Pattern B: Improvised Duet Acting, Poetry, Solo Acting, Storytelling, Original Oratory, Duo
Interpretation, Dramatic Interpretation
Debate Events:
 NEW THIS YEAR: Due to the number of debate events ACTAA now qualifies to ATOC, the committee must clarify that students may only enter ONE DEBATE EVENT (Policy, PF, LD,
IPDA) REGARDLESS OF QUALIFICATION. Additionally, a student is permitted to enter IPDA and an Extemp event (if qualified in both) but must do so with the understanding that the schedule and elimination rounds on Saturday, April 11 will not be modified for any doubleentered competitor.
 Five (5) WINS at Arkansas qualifying tournaments sanctioned by ACTAA and AAA during the current school year.
 Breaking to Semifinals.
 Winning a 1 st , 2 nd , or 3 rd Place Speaker trophy.
 All qualified teams may be entered. Teams will not be protected after the preliminary rounds from competing against a team from their own school. All rounds will be debated.
 Maverick Debaters will not be permitted at the ATOC. In policy debate and public forum, a school with an odd number of competitors qualified for the ATOC may apply for a waiver for a competitor with the closest qualification. The TOC committee will determine if the waiver is accepted.
Group Events:
 If a Qualifying Tournament has 3-4 entries in either WM or RT, only the 1 st place winner will be an ATOC qualifier. IF a QT has 5-more entries, those entries in the final round will be considered ATOC qualifiers.
 Junior High teams may not qualify for the ATOC.
 If a QT has 1-2 entries in either WM or RT, neither entry may qualify to the ATOC.

 It is the duty of the coach to ensure that the rights have been secured for the
Words and Music selection. Coaches: please make sure your selections comply with ACTAA rules and are within copyright law of educational and fair-use.
ACTAA rules regarding Words and Music entries must be followed.
All entries must be finalized by Tuesday, April 7, 2015 by 6:00 p.m. Due to the number of entries for
ATOC and the data entry burden on tabulation, NO PAPER ENTRIES WILL BE ACCEPTED. If you need help with this process, please contact Rosie Valdez. You MUST complete your entry online through Joy of Tournaments and then submit your qualification report attached below (this report must be emailed to Rosie Valdez AND Tim Peerbolte. Any changes to entries or judges after
April 7 st must be emailed to Rosie Valdez (rosie.valdez@lrsd.org) AND Tim Peerbolte
(tim.peerbolte@greenwoodk12.com).
NEW THIS YEAR: An invoice will be generated by Treasurer Jennifer Akers, and will be emailed to you on Thursday, April 9 2015. It is your responsibility to contact Jennifer Akers to get an early invoice if you need it to requisition a check at your school. Entry fees are payable to ACTAA at 1818 N.
Taylor Street Suite B #307, Little Rock, AR 72202. You may utilize the PayPal option by logging into your ACTAA account at www.actaa.net. Please print your receipt for your records and bring to registration should you choose this payment option. Entries may be paid at registration as well or after as long as you present a signed P.O. at registration.
Little Rock Central High School is located at 1500 S. Park Street, Little Rock, AR 72202. Please do not arrive to campus before 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Registration will be held in the debate suite, Room 134; all competitors should wait in the cafeteria before and after events. Please do not bring outside food into the host school. Concessions will be provided.
