Betsy had never tackled the Cement Mixer before.
Although many fears cycled through her mind, her two
main concerns were handling the backdoor and the lip.
Her confidence rose, however, as she reminded herself
that if she could just get into the barrel she had a good
chance of winning, especially if conditions were cooking.
She stared out at the horizon, shook her fist triumphantly
in the air, and shouted, "I'm ready for you, Meat Grinder! I
can handle the biggest Macker you can deliver!"

“cement mixer”, “meat grinder” and “man-eater” - waves can reach up to

Macker - a really big wave (like a Mack truck) .
Barrel
A barrel is where the wave is hollow when it is breaking. For some surfers
it's the be all and end all of surfing. Is sometimes called a "tube."
Backdoor
To backdoor a wave is to take off behind the peak of a hollow wave and surf
through the barrel to the other side of the peak. The usual/easier take off is to
take on the peak or further down the shoulder.
The name comes from the short, intense right-hander that breaks off Hawaii's
Banzai Pipeline
