HFRS PA Meeting Minutes
Thursday, April 10, 2014
1. Karen Schifellite opened the meeting and welcomed everyone.
2. Mentioned that June 19, 20 and 23 are all ½ days with early dismissal at 11:10.
3. Reviewed fundraising totals
a. Spring Fashion Show raised $20,868
b. Approximate total for the school year is $42,229
4. Adventureland dates are being reviewed based on the added school days due to the
severe weather we had this winter. We will keep you posted.
5. Ducks game is scheduled for May 2 and responses are coming back.
6. Clothing Drive is Saturday, April 12. We are good to go.
7. Spring Plant sale is in full bloom, orders are being taken and scheduled for pick-up on
Friday, May 2.
8. HFRS Business Directory is in discussion.
a. Should we make a booklet?
b. Should we sell ad space?
c. Should we make a calendar?
d. Mention the ad and get a percentage of the total bill will go to HFRS?
9. Attendees want the girl’s bathroom downstairs in the cafeteria fixed. Stall doors don’t
lock, new paint?
10. In September, re-new sponsorships that are on the homepage. They run on the
homepage for the current school year only and will then be taken down.
11. Kings Park Day – need tuition information, handouts, wristbands, pre-k hours.
Kindergarten days/hour classes
12. Mrs. Sokol asked if we knew of any company that could take and recycle her ink
cartridges. We gave her the name of Cartridge World.
13. A “Thank you gift for Mrs. Jenkins” ideas were presented:
a. Bracelet, watch with engraving
b. Dine around for the celebration
c. Mrs. Ranaldo is chairing, she will tell us what she wants the PA to do.
d. Do something similar to the Teacher Appreciation Luncheon?
e. Possible hours 4 pm to 7 pm?
f. Should we ask for monetary donations for food/refreshments?
g. Should we ask for food donations again?
h. Should we do a special mass at church?
i. Maybe just have wine and cheese?
j. Need refreshments for kids?
k. Food for kids?
14. Follies was a huge success, fun was had by all.
15. Questions were raised as to the enrollment for the new year:
a. How many new families?
b. How many new students?
c. What type of advertising is the school doing?
d. Ask Kathy Connolly to give an update at the June meeting.
16. Lunch Menu discussion:
a. Any way to change the food choices?
b. Food should be healthier
c. Can a student lunch card program be set up?
d. Can we get trays?
17. Bake Sales
a. Should do away with them…childhood obesity…think healthier options
b. Should do more dress down days for the $1
c. Or come up with another way to get money
d. Parents are getting upset with all the donuts, cakes, cookies etc.
e. One parent said her son bought 5 donuts and no one selling the food stopped him
or thought this was a little too much for him to buy
18. New PA Treasurer
a. Our new PA Treasurer will be Andrea Cantone
