FEAST OF SAINT ARNOLD "PATRON SAINT OF BEER" June 15, 2013 Presented by: Chapel of our Saviour Episcopal Church Hey, I'm Arnold (not that Arnold), SAINT Arnold, patron Saint of Beer. Join me and my friends at their very cool place (it's like a park) in the Colorado Springs, Broadmoor neighborhood on June 15, for my Feast Day. It will be a "Celebration of Colorado lifestyle and culture," which would of course include beer. . . . and Colorado wine. . .and much, much more. "In my day people everywhere were dying from plague caused by the bad water, so I stirred the brew kettle with my crucifix and exclaimed , "don't drink the water, drink the beer!" They got well . . . . . . .and happier too!" WHY The Feast of St. Arnold will benefit Fisher House Ft. Carson , it's soldiers and families. Ft. Carson hopes to add their facility to the several dozen other "Houses" located on bases around the country. Fisher House is a guest house where families of service members can stay while their loved ones receive hospital and rehabilitation services. MORE WHY To introduce a new audience to fine Colorado Craft Beer, Wine and Spirits. Seminars, Live Music, Food Vendors, and Volksmarching. To welcome visitors to the see the church and its historic property. WHAT The admission fee will include tastings from Colorado breweries, wineries and distillers who will serve samples of their products. We are hoping that 20 Colorado breweries, 10 wineries and 5 distillers will attend. Merchandise vendors will also be invited to pay a booth fee and sell retail products from their booths. We anticipate that a range of Colorado products will be offered. Live music, seminars, tours of the century old estate (if the walls could talk), and locally prepared artisan food will complement the day's activities. The Volksmarch 5K Walk sponsored by The Colorado Springs Walking Club will begin in the morning of the feast day. It will originate and terminate at the festival entrance on 4th Street. This walk will be along a predetermined five Kilometer route through the Broadmoor neighborhood. "Volksmarching" is a popular northern European tradition. "Volksmarchers" will be allowed early entry to the festival grounds. Guests are invited to come as families. Supervised children's activities will be provided on the church playground. For older children and youth we intend to offer an outdoor area with a variety of active outdoor activities. "From Man's sweat and God's love, Beer came into the world" . . .
