AnnaMae Bringard Natural Hazards Weekly Weather Assignment The week I chose to write my weather assignment about was from Thursday, February 13th to Wednesday, February 19th. All of my information is acquired from weatherchannel.com/ week at a glance. First I am going to explain each days temperature and overall weather, then conclude by explaining what the weather we experienced is indicative of. On Wednesday the 13th our high was 61 degrees and our low was 44 degrees. We experienced thunder storms with wind from 23 to 43 miles per hour. On the 14 th our high was 57 and our low was 43 degrees. It was a cloudy day with winds anywhere from 20 to 30 miles per hour. On Saturday the 15th we had another warm day with highs of 61 and lows of 42 degrees. It was still a cloudy day but there was less wind with gusts from 17 to 25 miles per hour. On Sunday our high was 59 and our low was 34 degrees. We had a little rain that night and winds from 31 to 40 mph. on the 17th we had highs of 60 degrees and a low of 33 degrees. It was partly cloudy with wind from 22 to 37 miles per hour. On Tuesday the 18 th we had a high of 54 degrees and a low of 31 degrees. There was not much wind on this cloudy day. Finally on Wednesday the 19th we had a high of 52 degrees and a low of 32. It the morning we experienced a light rain and snowfall with winds from 24 to 32 miles per hour. Essentially what the weather we experienced over the week was indicative of was that we had low air pressure which was giving us the warm temperature along with the high winds and a few days of precipitation. This explains why we had no extreme temperatures through the week. Low air pressure acts as a blanket blocking out all the cold air from the atmosphere as well as a blocking out the sunlight with the clouds which stops the temperature from becoming extremely warm. This explains why our lowest low was 31 degrees and our highest high was 61 degrees. That is not as wide of a range of temperatures as we usually have over seven days. The fact that we had wind almost every day is also a huge indicator of low air pressures.
