5 pts for each Bluegrass PRIDE/FCPS E&SCC Water Lesson
5 pts for submitted KGHS Water Inventory
1 pt for each student who attends a watershed event, ie Fall Cane Run Watershed Festival, Friends of Wolf Run
Watershed events or Cardinal Valley Park Watershed Festival
5 pts for each school wide awareness event (posters, PSA, Expo, guest speaker)
1 pt for each classroom lesson taught
1 pt for listing and describing each point and non-point sources of pollution from your school
5 pts for each Water Planet Action Guide activity (Go to www.waterplanetchallenge.org or the Teachers Corner to
find out more.)
15 pts for hosting a Water Carnival or other school-wide awareness activity
10 pts for class discussion on school’s KAW CCR (Consumer Confidence Report)*
20 pts for inviting a KAW representative to discuss your school’s KAW CCR with students**

Water Conservation
5 pts for each documented project to conserve water
modified behavior initiative
modified watering schedule
student-initiated inventory of leaking pipes, fixtures, seal
student-initiated understanding of installed low flow, energy efficient faucets during renovation
student-initiated understanding of installed high efficiency urinals or toilets during renovation
5 pts for rain barrel use; 1 pt for promotion of rain barrel
Water Quality
10 pts for performing a chemical water quality assessment on a nearby stream (any three of the following: pH,
nitrates, alkalinity, phosphates, dissolved oxygen, oxygen demand, fecal coliform)
10 pts for performing a biological water quality assessment on a nearby stream (macroinvertebrates)
5 pt for performing a physical water quality assessment on a nearby stream (any two of the following: observations
of riparian zone, evidence of erosion, conductivity, turbidity, density, stream origin)
10 pts for currently implemented Trout in the Classroom program
5 pts for designed rain garden OR 10 pts for installed rain garden
5 pts for pervious pavement
5 pt for each stenciled storm drain by a student
5 pts for clearly describing proper disposal of fats, oils and grease (FOG)
5 pts for identifying and mapping problem spots on campus where erosion often occurs

Top three FCPS schools with highest earned points will receive a $500 reward at the May
E=USE2/Bluegrass PRIDE Recognition Ceremony.

By Thursday April 18th, please send documentation of total points.
Documentation for each initiative/event may be in the form of written/typed prose, photograph or third party
verification. It does not need to be fancy or laborious, rather it can be a copy of a lesson plan, a picture of a rain
garden, picture of students with Trout in the Classroom aquarium, picture of stenciled storm drain, printout of an email, etc.
Documentation may be submitted electronically to Tresine Logsdon or bound and sent through the courier to
Tresine Logsdon, Risk Management.
