QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Current Montana Specialist Certificate
2. Endorsement in school psychology.
3. One year successful experience as a school psychologist preferred
RESPONSIBLE TO:
Director of Special Education
GENERAL DUTIES:
Evaluates pupils referred as potential candidates for Special Education program and
present a report to the local education authority on pupils he/she has evaluated.
Test may include intelligence, achievement, personality, and perceptual motor test.
SPECIFIC DUTIES:
1. Asses difficulties of referred students through appropriate testing and
diagnostic practices.
2. Administer tests and recommend placement for all identified students by way
of an Evaluation Team staffing.
3. Help identify within the school all types of disabled students within the rules
and regulations of special education for the State of Montana.
4. Maintains case records on all referred students.
5. Conducts individual, group or facilitative therapy for children whose diagnosed
problems would benefit from behavior modification.
6. Confers with teachers and parents whenever necessary.
7. Consults on special educational needs of emotionally disturbed, learning
disabled and other students as assigned.
8. Attends all Evaluation team meetings on placement of individual students who
are disabled, emotionally disturbed or learning disabled.
9. Interprets the school psychological services to teachers and parents.
10. Prepares and submits required reports on special education children and special
education programs, when requested.
11. Cooperates with personnel of community health and social welfare agencies.
12. Attends staff, professional and interagency meetings.
13. Assists with in-service training of school personnel.
14. Conducts appropriate research.
15. Keeps abreast of new developments in the field.
16. Assists with Child Find as required by the Director of Special Education.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform
each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill,

LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical
procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and
procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of
managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and
fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions,
percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
REASONING ABILITY: Ability to carry out detailed written and/or verbal instructions. Ability to solve problems
involving concrete variables in standardized situations. Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety
of variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions
furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form to carry out business objectives. Ability to define problems,
collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES: Ability to apply knowledge of current research and theory to instructional
program; ability to plan and implement lessons based on division and school objectives and the needs and
abilities of students to whom assigned. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships
with students, peers, parents and community; ability to speak clear and concisely in written or oral
communication.
