2014-15 school year.
Test: District Wide Writing Prompt
Purpose and Use: This test is given to help students and teachers identify needed growth areas in their writing and critical thinking skills.
Grades: K-11
Tentative Test Date: October 23
Results to parents and students: Students and parents will receive feedback from the assessment by the end of the grading period.
Test: State K-2 Assessment
Purposes and Use: This test measures basic reading and math skills. The K-2 assessment provides a benchmark of how students perform on the foundational skills required for success in future grades.
Grades: K-2
Tentative Test Dates: April 27 – May 1
Results to parents and students: The district receives individual performance reports which detail student performance in July. These reports will be shared with parents at the start of the school year in
August.

Purpose and Use: This test is given to help students and teachers identify needed growth areas in their language, mathematics and science skills. The test also measures academic growth over the course of the year relative to state standards.

Purpose and Use: This test is given to help measure how much a student has grown their writing and critical thinking skills over the course of a school year.

Results to parents and students: Students and parents will receive feedback from the assessment by the end of the grading period.
Test: National Assessment for Education Progress (NAEP) – Loudon Elementary School only
Purpose and Use: Administered in accordance with the No Child Left Behind Act of 2001 which requires the state to participate in the biennial state academic assessments of fourth grade reading and math.
Only a small sample of Tennessee fourth graders will take this test. This test, often called the nation’s report card, measures Tennessee’s academic achievement against other states also taking this test.

Purposes and Use: This test is given to help measure how much a student grows academically over the course of a school year in reading/language arts, mathematics and science.
Grades: 3-8
Tentative Test Dates: May 4 – May 8
Results to parents and students: Quick Score reports, which provide teachers and parents with a snapshot of their student’s performance, are provided to districts by the end of the school year. These are used in the calculation of final grades for report cards. The district receives individual performance reports which detail student performance in July. These reports will be shared with parents at the start of the school year in August.

Purposes and Use: During the 2014-15 school year, students will take the TCAP Social Studies as a field test. This field test will not count toward students’ grades, but feedback and results from the field test will help design a strong and rigorous assessment to measure learning in social studies.

Results to parents and students: Because this is a field test during the 2014-15 school year, the results will not count toward students’ grades. Individual student results will not be shared with districts and parents, as the results will only inform the future design of the test.

Purpose and Use: The ACT Explore is designed to gauge college readiness for individual students.
Grade: 8

Results to parents and students: Student level reports are provided to students approximately three to eight weeks after the administration of the assessment by ACT.
