Gaelic Trainee Producer
Job Description
Reports to:
Producer and Head of Touring
Overall Purpose:
To marry the creative ambition of a Gaelic language production with the strategic, financial
and logistical resources available. You will assist in the delivery and touring of the
production.
Main Duties and Key Responsibilities:
 To be an active channel of communication between the show and the departments
within the National Theatre of Scotland at all times
 To partner with the Producer, the Director and the Production Manager to deliver the
show on time and on budget
 Attend rehearsals
 Arrange Project Meetings at which representatives from External Affairs, Finance and
Production can discuss aspects of the show and the tour relevant to their departments
 Work with the Producer, External Affairs and Development departments on matters
pertaining to marketing, press, online, publications and events
 Assist in compiling Gaelic copy for promotional purposes in print and online
 Attend Production Meetings and monitor matters pertaining to budget and schedule
 Liaise with the Production Coordinators on all matters pertaining to the tour: schedule,
travel and accommodation.
 Liaise with the Company Manager on matters pertaining to the company’s contracts and
welfare
 Liaise with the Head of Planning on all matters pertaining to contracts for the Creative
team.
 Liaise with the Producer on matters pertaining to Health & Safety, commissions and
rights
 Liaise with venues on matters pertaining to access
 Liaise with the Company Stage Manager on matters pertaining to the day to day running
of the show
 In collaboration with the Marketing Manager monitor advance sales
 Liaise with Venue Managements/Committees prior to arrival and on the ground
 Assume Front of House duties on tour – ensuring prominence of branding and
programmes, selling tickets on the door if and when necessary
 Reconciliation and banking of box office income
 Comply with National Theatre of Scotland’s Health and Safety Policy and statutory
regulations
 Use ICT applications to service the post’s administrative needs
 As the post will require handling, processing and recording of restricted information,
confidentiality is required to be maintained at all times.
 Recommend actions to achieve value for money and efficiency

Person Specification
Essential Criteria
 An understanding of the Gaelic language
 Passion for theatre and a desire to learn and gain experience of producing
 Knowledge of touring
 Sound financial knowledge, and the ability to manage budgets
 Ability to work under pressure
 Ability to collaborate as member of a team
Terms and Conditions of Employment
Weekly wage:
£350.00
Hours:
Up to 50 hours per week and as necessary to fulfil the scope of
responsibilities within the post. This will involve some weekend and
evening work as per the production schedule.
Period:
The Trainee Producer is required from 9 March to 18 April 2015 and
then mutually agreed dates for the tour of the production until 15
May 2015
Holidays:
In addition to the agreed rate of pay, the Company will pay a statutory
holiday entitlement. This is instead of receiving paid holidays
Pension:
The Company will comply with the employer pension duties in
accordance with Part 1 of the Pensions Act 2008, which includes the
requirement to automatically enroll all eligible job-holders into a
qualifying pension scheme. Further information is available from the
Company Manager.
