The Second Year: The Journey Continues
2016-17
August 30, 2016 (Tuesday) Norfolk Campus, 10:00 a.m. until noon. Meeting
to finalize eTeaching Portfolio for fall 2016 (this is part of the new faculty’s
evaluation process for the last half of the 2016 calendar year since you already
were evaluated for spring 2016). This meeting builds on and completes the
work started in the workshops in 2015-16. You will emerge with a completed
eTeaching Portfolio ready to submit to your dean/director in your meeting with
them in November.
September 30, 2016 (Friday) Chesapeake Campus, 1:00—4:00 p.m. Final
review (if needed) of eTeaching Portfolio in preparation for review with
dean/director in November; and work on APPDP for 2017 (this will be the
primary focus of this meeting and you will leave with a draft of your 2017
APPDP to review with your dean/director in November 2016).
The 2017 APPDP will be the first developed with some input from the new
faculty member since the ones for the fall 2015 and spring 2016 were
established by the college and given to the new faculty members. However,
there are some college requirements that will be included in the 2017 APPDP.
Specifically, there are two areas that the new faculty member will include in
their APPDP for 2017: (1) complete the TOP ELITE program through eLearning
since this program contains many elements that are applicable to face-to-face
courses. (If the faculty member has documented that this course has been
completed previously, then the faculty member and the dean/director will
develop another objective to replace this one.) (2) Complete training by the
college to be a General Education assessor since the skills developed through
this training also apply to assessing individual courses as well as specific
programs in which your course(s) are taught. In addition to satisfying the

APPDP and completing the Academy program, these activities will be
documented and added to your eTeaching Portfolio as you prepare in November
2017 for your evaluation meeting with your dean/director. At this meeting, you
will complete the forms for your first multi-year appointment that will take
place in August 2018 and you will work with your dean/director to develop new
objectives for your 2018 APPDP.
