Montgomery County Coalition for the Homeless (MCCH) leads the effort to end homelessness in our community by creating housing options, providing supportive services and facilitating collaboration, education and advocacy based on the belief that every person is entitled to the dignity of a home. With the help of many for over twenty years, we have expanded our reach to meet the immense need in our community. Solving Housing Crises with a Spectrum of Solutions Last year, MCCH served over 1,500 homeless and formerly homeless men, women, and children through eight distinct programs and an affiliate agency, Coalition Homes, which owns and manages 97 properties. Our work includes helping homeless people move on to permanent housing; helping formerly homeless people maintain stable housing; and creating permanent housing opportunities for our clients. Permanent Housing – Providing permanent housing combined with services for people who are formerly homeless is at the core of our mission and our most urgent concern. Our 386 units of permanent housing, including those owned by Coalition Homes, provide homes for 750 men, women, and families. Combining permanent housing with supportive services is bolstered by our years of community engagement, research, and collaboration to create the best array of resources possible. Our six programs—Cordell Place, Creative Housing Initiative Pilot Program, Home First, Hope Housing, Partnership for Permanent Housing, and Seneca Heights Apartments—include options such as units in single sites, shared housing, and apartments scattered throughout the county. We support our clients’ housing stability and community connections through case management and a variety of services. Safe Havens Housing – MCCH provides housing with intensive supportive services to 40 homeless adults with severe mental illness through our longest-running program, Safe Havens. The program provides a structured and safe living environment that enables people to live on their own to move at their own pace in developing daily living skills with the ultimate goal of moving into permanent supportive housing. Emergency Shelter – The Home Builders Care Assessment Center men’s emergency shelter offers a variety of supportive services and access to basic amenities to 750 men each year, with the goal of connecting clients to needed resources and stable housing. Striving to End Homelessness Leading the Effort to End Homelessness – MCCH galvanizes our community’s vast human and financial resources and builds our collective political and social will to do what’s right for our citizens in need. Raising Awareness – Educating the public about homelessness—its prevalence and impact in Montgomery County, and its evidenced-based solutions—is a vital part of fulfilling our mission. Collaborating with our Partners – MCCH is dedicated to working with government, business, nonprofit, faithbased, and community partners to identify unmet needs and develop innovative solutions to the problem of homelessness. MCCH provides educational programming for fellow providers and stakeholders. Making Ourselves Heard – Advocacy is at the core of our efforts to end homelessness in the county. MCCH advocates on the local, state, and federal levels and regularly encourages our partners and constituents to join in these efforts. Code #8569 Code #40234
