Bank Robber Shot
On Tuesday March 25, 2011 an article was written by Scott Schwebke on Michael S
Ames, he was shot by police following a dramatic crime spree. He is accused of bank robbery,
police case, and home invasion. The charges stem from the robbery of a Key Bank in Ogden
Utah, Ames threatened several employees with a hand gun telling them he would kill them
then he fled. Police caught up with Ames on Riverdale road and chased him down I-15,
eventually he crashed his jeep. Police said then he carjacked a woman at gun point, ditching the
car later on. After he ran though some neighborhoods in South Ogden he broke into a home.
The owner went after him with a bat. After he was chased by police he was shot several times.

Michael Ames is suing police, he alleges his civil rights were violated and that deputy
Todd Christensen used improper lethal force when he shot and wounded him. “I’ve had
incredible physical and mental injury,” Ames said in the handwritten complaint filed in U.S.
District Court in Salt Lake City. “I was shot five times total. This shattered my hip, destroyed my
digestive tract, and (caused) numerous soft tissue injuries. I am suffering from post-traumatic

stress disorder also. I now wear a colostomy bag and no longer have normal use of my bowels.”
