USTA South Carolina Staff Responsibilities School Tennis Organizer Hours/Schedule of Position: This part-time grant based non-exempt employee reports directly to the Junior Recreation Coordinator. Standard hours are Monday through Friday with evening and/or weekend activities and travel as required by events. Summary of Position Purpose: Promote and facilitate a junior program pathway in South Carolina through allied organizations such as schools, parks and recreation departments, community tennis associations and other providers. NOTE: This is a grant funded position and funding may be extended. A grant-funded position has no guarantee of on-going and indefinite employment. Minimum Qualifications: Education/Certification: High school diploma Experience: Internship or past employment with relatable duties, non-profit background, practical knowledge and work with volunteers. Past work or interest in working with schools, parks and recreation departments, or non-profits. Skills: Clear and professional verbal and written communication, strong administrative and organizational ability, proficient in Microsoft Office and general computer skills with an ability to learn software quickly, comfortable making presentations and speaking publicly Other Requirements: Familiarity with tennis, a passion for customer service, pride in one’s work and a self-starter with a desire to be on our team Job duties include 1. Seek out and coordinate with area schools to perform in-school programs to help promote education, health and wellness, life skills, and the game of tennis to students using the USTA Curriculum Kit and resources. 2. Visit with area providers to market USTA SC programs and initiatives designed to target schools and providers. 3. Assist the USTA SC Junior Recreation Coordinator at the local level to organize Physical Education teachers and after school program staff and/or volunteers for USTA SC workshops. 4. Report weekly to the USTA SC Junior Recreation Coordinator and Junior Programs Manager on progression of assigned tasks and work completed. 5. Support the USTA SC Junior Recreation Coordinator and Junior Programs Manager with projects and/or assignments as needed. Working Conditions Work is performed in various environments including: at a home or office with computer, in the classroom, on the tennis court, and driving. Must have reliable transportation as the role must travel to various locations to reach target audience May require attendance to meetings at USTA SC offices in Columbia, SC Ability to effectively communicate with local school personnel, area students, and administrators of after school care.
