KEY POINTS OF THE PRESENTATION A summary of the key APC reimbursement changes An introduction to major changes impacting coding and billing of hospital outpatient services, including oncology, and hospital-based clinic billing An introduction to new rules and associated new codes including pertinent background information A discussion of changes to conversation factor and payment implications and an overview of other changes of major interest About the Speakers: Richard Cooley, BA, CCS – Richard has more than fifteen years in healthcare consulting. He has developed an expertise in hospital outpatient and inpatient coding, including admission criteria reviews, billing, reimbursement and compliance reviews and charge master reviews. His areas of expertise include Medicare reimbursement for the Medicare Outpatient Prospective Payment System (OPPS) and Medicaid Ambulatory Payment Groups (APGs). He is a certified inpatient and outpatient coder with AHIMA. Richard earned his Bachelors from Hobart College, where he studied English and Chemistry. Matthew Lawney, MSPT, MBA, CHC – Matt has over fifteen years of healthcare experience. His areas of expertise include the Medicare prospective payment systems including APC, APG, IRF-PPS, IPS-PPS and DRGs. Additionally, Matt has conducted numerous Revenue Cycle and Charge Description Master (CDM) reviews and assists clients with complex reimbursement, coding and compliance issues. Matt earned a Masters of Business Administration from the College of Saint Rose. He earned a Masters in Physical Therapy and Bachelor of Science from College Misericordia. He is a NYS registered Physical Therapist and is certified in Health Care Compliance (CHC).
