Transgenic and Gene Targeting Core Cryopreservation of Sperm or Fertilized Embryos Investigator: SDRC member Submission Date: CCTSI member eRA Commons Name: Cryopreservation Protocol: Contact Person: Experimental Protocol: Contact Number: Speedtype: Contact email: Service Needed: Please mark one EMBRYO CRYO: TGTC recommends 8-12, proven, stud males for mating with either investigator supplied females or wild type females. In order to consider a line properly cryopreserved, the transgenic community recommends having 300-400 embryos frozen (TGTC freezes at the 2-cell stage). Depending on background strain, transgenic line and efficiency of breeders, this may take multiple collection attempts to achieve the desired number of embryos. SPERM CRYO: TGTC requests 2 proven, male mice between the ages of 8 and 20 weeks to freeze a total of 20 straws. We will thaw one straw to check for sperm viability; please note TGTC cannot guarantee a successful IVF recovery at this time.
