Welcome Note
Dear Parents!
Welcome to Fourth Grade! We have
many exciting plans for the year. We
will be going on fun field trips and
learning a lot!
As your child enters the upper
grades there will be some changes
that you may need to know about.
The daily schedule changes for 4th
and 5th graders. Your child will have
one recess a day, in the morning
from 10:25-10:35. There is no
afternoon recess. Lunch is from
12:15-1:00pm.
Also, your child will now be receiving
letter grades on progress reports and
trimester report cards. Grading is
based upon academic performance,
participation and growth throughout
the year.
We welcome parent participation and
will be requesting parent volunteers
for in school projects and field trips.
If you are interested in being a room
parent, please let your child’s
teacher know.
Sincerely,
Mrs. Pat and Mr. Duff

READING!
Reading at home, as well as at
school is a very important part of
fourth grade curriculum. Fourth
grade students are expected to be
independent readers by this level. In
addition to your child’s use of both
classroom and school libraries, we
highly encourage you to take your
child regularly to the county library
so that they my choose books in
their interest area. Students will take
a reading diagnostic test within the
first few weeks of school and their
level will be shared wit you.
