PRESS RELEASE 23 July 2015 Immediate release UP IN THE ATTIC JOURNEYS TO THE ROOF GARDEN IN CANARY WHARF FOR A FREE DAY OF FAMILY WORKSHOPS AND PERFORMANCES ON SATURDAY 1 AUGUST Up in the Attic, a magical journey of discovery and adventure, opens at the Roof Garden performance space at Crossrail Place, Canary Wharf, on Saturday 1 August for a free afternoon of family friendly workshops and performances as part of the Bloom Festival. Join three children on an unforgettable bedtime adventure: a journey through the attic at the top of an old house. As they discover the delights and secrets hidden inside, they’re taken on a rollercoaster ride of story, song and surprise. As the children work together to unravel a mystery, they meet a wolf, a crab, a whale and a goose – and when they finally open the dusty suitcase in the far corner of the attic, they realise that there really is no need to be frightened of the dark ever again. Up in the Attic is a story about co-operation, friendship and overcoming fears. A magical, melodious and interactive tale created through enchanting music and puppetry for ages 3 to 6. At the end of the performance, there is an opportunity for the audience to meet the characters and share in the magic of the story. This is the second time that Half Moon has presented a show at the Roof Garden. Earlier this year they were one of the first companies to perform at the new venue, which opened in May, with Tam Tam Theatre’s intimate, imaginative and captivating play for the very young Circles in the Sand. Up in the Attic is performed by Floods of Ink, a theatre company who champion young people’s right to experience theatre, creating work that speaks to young audiences of today. Chris Elwell, Director of Half Moon commented: “We’re very excited to return to the Roof Garden performance space at Crossrail Place with Floods of Ink’s enchanting adventure Up in the Attic. It’s a beautiful outdoor - but covered – venue and this free afternoon of workshops and performances is a great introduction to the theatre for all the family. We look forward to seeing you there.” Up in the Attic is one of several productions that form part of Half Moon Presents, the producing arm of Half Moon, supporting the promotion and development of theatre for young audiences at a national and international level.
