PRESS RELEASE

Immediate release
HANS FISCHER’S AWARD-WINNING PICTURE BOOK, PITSCHI, IS
BROUGHT TO LIFE AT HALF MOON ON SATURDAY 28 FEBRUARY
IN A HEART-WARMING PRODUCTION FOR CHILDREN – AND
CAT LOVERS!
First published in 1948, Pitschi has delighted generations of children – and cat lovers – all around the
world. It’s now brought to life for a new generation in a heart-warming stage production by
Komedia, with a rich mix of storytelling, physical theatre, humour, music and song at Half Moon
Theatre on Saturday 28 February.
Pitschi lives with her cat family, Grandma Lisette and a dog called Bello on a farm high up in the
Swiss Alps. She doesn’t much care for the rough and tumble and mischievous fun of kitten play and
dreams of being something else – a chicken, perhaps, or a goat, or a rabbit – for after all, for Pitschi,
anything is better than being a cat!
The little kitten goes off on an exciting adventure around the farm to meet the other animals, but
finally discovers that she can be happy by being exactly what she is.
Following the show, children in the audience will be invited to the front of the stage to meet and
play with the animal characters.
Pitschi, the Kitten with Dreams, is written by Colin Granger and performed by his daughter Natasha
Granger.
Founded in 1994, Komedia is an independent arts organisation with two flourishing venues in
Brighton and Bath. Last year Komedia celebrated 20 years of presenting and producing children’s
theatre by premiering Pitschi, the Kitten with Dreams at the Edinburgh Festival.
Chris Elwell, Director of Half Moon commented: “We’re delighted to welcome Komedia to Half
Moon Theatre for the very first time with their enchanting and interactive stage adaptation of Hans
Fischer’s award-winning picture book, Pitschi.
“The charming music will have you singing along on your way home and the show’s message, that
it’s always best just to be ourselves, is an important one for all children that’s delivered with fun and
a real love for the source material. It’s the purrrfect show for children - and cat lovers!
