The Cayman Islands are a British Overseas Territory located approximately 180 miles south of Cuba and 180 miles west
of Jamaica. With a population of 58,000, the Cayman Islands are known as a leading financial centre and a thriving
tourist destination with two million visitors per year. They enjoy one of the highest standards of living in the Caribbean.
Applications are invited for the following civilian posts:
Two (2) Scenes of Crime Officer (SOCO)
Salary range: CI$38,196 – $51,372 per annum

The Scenes of Crime Officer (SOCO) is responsible for complex crime scene investigations which include:
responsibility for the evaluation of the scene; develops, secure, and packages physical evidence for scientific
evaluation and comparison. Approximately 70% of the post holder’s time is spent processing crime scenes,
packaging and transporting evidence, attending and photographing autopsies and participating in briefings
and conferences.
Knowledge, Experience & Skills:
Candidates must possess 3-7 years experience working in similar positions with a degree in Sciences with a
major/minor in Forensic or a Diploma in Scenes of Crime. Alternatively the post holder must have a
secondary education with a strong background in the Sciences as well as 5 years experience working in
similar positions. It is also essential that the post holder possess: a valid driver’s license;
 effective communication skills (both oral and written) as well as the knowledge and
competency in giving expert witness testimony in related cases;
 analytical, investigative, and problem solving skills;
 the ability to connect events and circumstances thereby discerning trends and patterns and
be able to report findings in a succinct and thorough manner;
 the abilities to prioritise and to meet strict deadlines; and,
 sound computer skills.
Certification and experience in manual, automated and digital photography and enhancement is
desirable.
Note: Applicants will be subjected to rigorous background checks above what is usually done and will be required to
complete a written assessment prior to being interviewed.
