Hi, my name is Rebecca Fontenot. I am the Advisor for all Education, Psychology and General Family and Consumer
Science Majors. Here are some things you need to know about scheduling for your major:
All:




You will schedule UNIV 101- For College of Education Majors
ENGL 100 is equivalent to ENGL 101. Schedule the English you have placed into.
MATH 100 is equivalent to MATH 101. Schedule the Math you have placed into.
It is HIGHLY RECOMMENDED that you take an ENGL and MATH your first semester.
Education:
 Please try to schedule the courses listed under Preferred Courses on your Placement Form. These
courses will ensure progression towards the Education Block Requirements.
 Please look at checklist when scheduling Biology, your Biology class will depend on your certification. Biology
electives include any Biology in which student meets the prerequisite. (BIOL 105 is most common)
 If your degree requires an ART elective, please choose from any Art or Music course. ART 110 (Art
Appreciation) and MUS 105 (Music Appreciation) are the most common.
 Physical Science Electives (see chart on back)
 Please look at your checklist when scheduling a History, your History elective will depend on your
certification.
Psychology:
 History sequences include 101 & 102 (Western Civilization), 150 & 151 (World History) and 255 & 256
(American History).
 The ART elective includes any Art or Music course. ART 110 (Art Appreciation) and MUS 105 (Music
Appreciation) are the most common.
 Non-Psychology Social Science electives include Economics, Geography, Government and Sociology.
 CMPS (Computer Science) Electives include CMPS 107, 108 or 109.
General Family and Consumer Science:
 Physical Science Electives (see chart)
 History Electives (see chart)
 The FNAR or ART elective includes any Art or Music course. ART 110 (Art Appreciation) and MUS 105 (Music
Appreciation) are the most common.
 CMPS (Computer Science) Electives include CMPS 107, 108 or 109.
