 You will schedule UNIV 101- GOVT, SOCI, HIST, GEOG, ENGL, MACO, GENS OR MATH MAJORS
Mass Communications:
 MACO 101 should be scheduled your first semester.
 You will need two Math classes for this degree. MACO majors are required to have 6 hours of Math to be
composed of a 100 level Mathematics course and MATH 214. Acceptable 100 level Math courses include:
Math 100 (counts as 101 when complete), 101, and 117 (or 116).
 Natural Science Electives include Biology, Astronomy, Chemistry, Physical Science, Geology and Physics. See
general education handout for options.
 The Fine Art or ART elective includes ART 110 (Art Appreciation) or MUS 105 (Music Appreciation)
 Social Science electives include Psychology, Economics, Geography, Government and Sociology. See general
education handout for options.
 History electives include 101 & 102 (Western Civilization), 150 & 151 (World History) or 255 & 256
(American History).
 Minors are not required but are highly recommended. There are 21+ hours of elective or minor hours built
into the MACO curriculum.

 Computer Literacy Electives include CMPS 107, 108, 109, 130 or OIS 200.
 Sociology requires a minor from another field (to include 9 semester hours from 300-level or above).
