RULES
The regatta will be governed by the rules as defined in The Racing Rules of Sailing and by
the rules of the British Islands Flying Fifteen Association.
Bewl Valley Sailing Club implements the RYA Racing Charter. Competitors are required to
sail in compliance with the Charter.
Racing rules: 1.2, 27.1, 32.2, and 40 will be changed. The changes will appear in full in the
Sailing Instructions.
Rights to use Names & Likenesses: Competitors automatically grant to the organising
authority and the United Kingdom Flying Fifteen Association without payment the right in
perpetuity to make, use and show any motion pictures, still pictures and live, taped or filmed
television of or relating to the event
Advertising, this event has been designated Category C in accordance with ISaF regulation
20.3.1 (b) though the restrictions of the International Flying Fifteen Association Rules 17.2 will
also apply
ELIGIBILITY AND ENTRY
The regatta is open to all boats of the International Flying Fifteen class.
Entries will be limited to 70 boats. Places will be allocated on a first come first served basis.
Prior to a boat being launched, the owner shall produce to BVSC a valid Measurement
Certificate and current BIFFA Membership Card. A person who is not a member of the
BIFFA cannot enter or steer a boat for any Championship race; but a crew who is not a
member may steer a boat for short periods during such a race. For the purpose of this
Championship, members of any Association affiliated to ff International are deemed to be
members of BIFFA.
Regatta numbers and sponsors stickers must be attached in the designated position on the
hull if required by the organising authority.
FEES
Entries together with an entry fee of £65 (which includes a meal on the Saturday evening)
should be sent to Bewl Valley Sailing Club, Bewl Water, Lamberhurst, Kent. TN3 8HJ.
Entries received before 5th March will be subject to a £20 discount (£45 entry fee). Entry
forms are Attachment A to this NOR and can be downloaded from the Club website
www.bewlvalleysc.co.uk.
Competitors under the age of 18 years at the time of the event shall be required to complete
and lodge the parental/guardian's consent form included in the entry form with the Race
Committee prior to the start of racing.

SCHEDULE
Registration:
All entrants must register at the Registration Desk at BVSC before racing. The Registration
Desk will be open on Friday 4th April from 1300 until 1600 and on Saturday from 0800.
Briefing:
A competitors briefing will be held on the Saturday at 1100 by the Official Noticeboard
Racing:
5 races are programmed
The scheduled time of the warning signal for the first race each day is 1155 on the Saturday
and 1025 on the Sunday.
No warning signal will be made after 1400 on the Sunday.
MEASUREMENTS
The Race Committee reserves the right to require any boat or sail to be submitted for
measurement at any time before or during the series.
All sails used at this event must be measured and endorsed on the boats measurement
certificate in accordance with the rule 13.8.2 of the International Flying Fifteen Association
and Rule 11 of the Championship Regulations. The boat shall race only with sails endorsed
on her certificate, except that in the case of a borrowed boat, the boat may race with any
combination of the sails endorsed on the certificate of the boat, or on the certificate of another
boat owned by the helmsperson. Both these certificates shall be examined by the organising
club, and such sail numbers as used will be declared to the Race Office at Registration (this
changes BIFFA championship regulation 11 and adopts Flying Fifteen International
Championship regulation 9.2).
The race committee reserves the right to require any boat or sail to be submitted for
measurement at any time before or during the series during, this will include an inspection of
the required safety equipment in accordance with International Flying Fifteen Association
Rule 15.

Provisional sailing instructions will be posted on the event website. The final version will also
be available at registration.

Attachment B shows the location of Bewl Water and a plan of the racing area.

FLEETS
Boats will be divided into fleets as follows: Open Sail Number over 3400
Silver Sail Number between 2701 and 3400
Classic Sail Number less than 2700
Depending on the number of entries Fleets may be given a separate starts.

SCORING
The low points system as provided in RRS Appendix A will apply.
There will be 1 discard if 3 or more races are sailed.
Minimum number of races to constitute a series will be 1.

SUPPORT BOATS
No support boats are to be used during the regatta with the exception of safety support boats
and committee boats under the control BVSC.

Boats will be dry-sailed.

PRIZES
Trophies and Prizes will be presented for the event and for all races.
Prizes will be presented for boats competing in Open, Silver and Classic fleets.

DISCLAIMER OF LIABILITY
Competitors participate in the regatta entirely at their own risk. See rule 4, Decision to Race.
Neither Bewl Valley Sailing Club nor anyone else helping to run the races or the event will
accept any liability for material damage or personal injury or death sustained in conjunction
with or prior to, during, or after the regatta.

Each participating boat shall be insured with adequate third-party liability insurance.

SOCIAL PROGRAMME
Bewl Valley Sailing Club will welcome all crews and their supporters throughout the weekend.
