Dear Nevada County 4-H Camp Counselor Candidate and Parent or Guardian, Thank you for your interest in becoming a Nevada County 4-H Junior Counselor or Camp Counselor! There are many benefits to serving as a youth counselor at Nevada County 4-H Camp. Counselors have the opportunity to develop leadership skills, to plan and deliver camp activities to enrich the lives of younger campers, and to work together as a team to provide a positive camp experience for all campers. Becoming a Nevada County 4-H Junior Camp Staff member is an application and selection process. Here are the important dates and requirements: Camp will be held July 13-17, 2015. Counselor applications are due by the March 29 counselor meeting. Interviews will be conducted. 4-H enrollment must be completed by the March 29 meeting, for those who are not already enrolled in 4-H for the 2014-2015 4-H year. Online enrollment and payment of the $34 enrollment fee must be received by that day. No exceptions! Instructions for online enrollment are attached. Counselor application and Camp registration for counselors are due by the March 29 counselor meeting. No exceptions! If your completed paperwork, including all fees and signed documents are not in by the deadline, you will not be considered for appointment as a 2015 camp counselor. Counselors must attend 80% of counselor meetings. One excused absence is allowed. Counselor meetings will be held from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. on the 4th Sunday of each month (except for May and June). Meetings will be held at the Grass Valley Veterans Building in the Remembrance Room. February 22 March 29 April 26 May 17 June TBA Counselors must participate in one camp work day prior to camp. Camp work days will be announced. Counselors will depart on the last day of camp, day of the week, July 17. Counselors will be expected to stay and help clean up on the last day of camp. Counselors must follow the 4-H Code of Conduct at all times at all 4-H meetings, events, activities, work days, and camp.
