Washington Metropolitan Association of Chinese Schools (WMACS) Summer Camp 2014 RETURNING COUNSELOR APPLICATION Position Overview WMACS Camp is searching for prospective counselors for its 2014 summer session. We are looking for enthusiastic, responsible, and proactive people to help make our camp a success. WMACS Summer Camp is expected be held this year at Frostburg State University the week of July 19th-26th, 2014. This camp seeks to develop social, confident individuals through the exploration of their Chinese heritage. Therefore, as a counselor, you will be expected to serve as a positive role model throughout your extensive interaction with campers. An ideal candidate for this position would be a friendly, enthusiastic, and respectful individual who has the initiative and drive to help make our 2014 camp session the most successful one ever. Time Commitment If selected to be a counselor, you are expected to attend scheduled meetings throughout May, June, and July for event planning and counselor training. While we understand that you might not be able to make every meeting, we expect you to be able to attend most of them. We will do our best to accommodate scheduling conflicts among counselors and staff prior to planning these meetings, which are generally held on the weekends in the DC area. For the duration of camp, you will need to stay at Frostburg State University for the entire program. After camp is over, counselors will facilitate the creation of the camp yearbook and help plan and coordinate the reunion in late August. Qualifications 1. 2. 3. All counselors must be nineteen (19) years old or have completed a year of college prior to, or on July 19th, 2014. All counselors must be enrolled in a college/university or be a college/university graduate. All counselors must be bilingual (English/Mandarin Chinese) Compensation 1. 2. 3. 4. A stipend for the week of camp (subject to change, but in the past has been about $400) Free room and board while at camp Transportation to and from Frostburg State University from TECRO Culture Center, Gaithersburg Counselor t-shirts, to be worn during the week of camp Instructions 1.
