At Key Stage 3, pupils learn to compose, develop and refine a number of skills and techniques across a range of team games and individual activities. At Key Stage 4, pupils continue with compulsory P.E lessons choosing to specialise in the activities they enjoy and have developed a flair for. All pupils change fully into P.E kit for every lesson and take on alternative roles as officials, organisers or coaches if unable to physically take part for medical reasons. Wentworth P.E department has strong links with Salford Reds, Eccles Community Rugby Club, Manchester United Football Foundation and Lancashire Cricket. Curriculum The curriculum at Wentworth is diverse, particularly at KS3 where we aim to offer the pupils as much opportunity as possible to discover their strengths and talents through performance and leadership. Wentworth is a barrier free school and disabled youngsters are supported in a positive and inclusive practical environment. Strong links exist with our feeder primary schools and we use sport as a means of both transition and assessment of KS4 pupils who successfully organise, lead and officiate various sporting activities. WENTWORTH HIGH SCHOOL Extra Curricular Activities Offered: We offer a range of extra-curricular activities such as cheerleading/dance, football, netball, basketball, rounders, cricket and chess, in which we have competitive teams. In 2008 we won the UKCA schools championships and gained 2nd place at the European Empress Classic Dance championships with our KS4 cheerleading team. We were also girls’ national basketball champions in the same year and our boys’ chess team has just won the Salford league.
