CHINESE PRE-INTRODUCTORY

(ELEMENTARY 5 – 6-YO)

ESSENTIAL UNIT 1 (E01)

(Greeting & Classroom Routines)

(September 2013)

Unit Statement: The student will greet people in Chinese. The student will recognize basic classroom routines used in the classroom by listening and understanding teacher commands and directions.

Essential Outcomes: (must be assessed for mastery)

1.

T he S tudent W ill respond to some simple routines, such as line up, be quiet, stand up, sit down, raise your hand, etc. (Interpersonal listening)

2.

TSW respond to some commands, such as clap, stamp, nod, and touch your head, feet, or hands. (Interpersonal listening)

3.

TSW greet people by using simple polite words and motions in Chinese.

(Interpersonal speaking)

4.

TSW introduce their names in Chinese.

5.

TSW sing songs in Chinese. (Presentational speaking)

6.

TSW self-select and read level appropriate literature independently for at least twenty minutes during school hours.

T he S tudent W ill introducehis/herself to someone and tell a little bit about him/herself using simple Chinese sentence structure. (Interpersonal speaking)
