Phase 4:
1. Risk Assessment

2. Code of Ethics
Before any games can be played a Risk assessment of your stadium needs to take place. Its important your fans
have a safe and enjouable experience at your stadium and while utilizing your amenities.
Additionally, you will need to develop the Code of Ethics for how your franchise will operate. This Code of
Ethics, along with your understanding of your Target Market(s), will assist in determining which players to
draft to fill your roster.
1. Risk Assessment
a. Deterine the Risks of you franchise, stadium and it’s amenities
i. Identify two rsks related to your franchise
ii. Identify two rsks related to your stadium
iii. Identify two risks for each stadium amenity
b. Who will be affected by each risk identofoed
i. Explain if it is the fans, stadium employees, the players, or a combination of the three
1. Be Specific in relation to how the group is affected
c. Options for managing the risk
i. Identify the type of risk:
1. Gain or Loss
2. Controllable Risk
3. Insurable Risk
ii. Explain how you will address each risk
1. Avoidance
a. Include the steps taken for all those impacted
2. Transfer
a. Include in detail the steps taken to transfer risk.
b. Provide your examples of signange or warnings
3. Rentention
a. If the risk is unavoidable, how will you relay this information to those
impacted
d. Deterine and Implement the best options for each Risk
i. Create a Risk Assessment Doscument
1. Outlining all risks, whose impacted, and the the steps taken by you to address
each risk
2. Develop your Code of Ethics
a. Brainstorm Ethical Dilemmas
i. Related to your players (Minimum of 3 Ethical Dilemmas):
1. Ex. Players with police records
ii. Related to Fan experience (Minimum of 2 Ethical Dilemmas):
1. Ex. Alchol sales (Fighting or DUI)
2. Health concerns related to food/beverage items sold
b. Discuss Potential Solutions (Determine a minimum of two potential solutions to each ethical
dilemma)
i. Ex. Only draft player(s) who have not committed a crime in the past 5 years or only draft
players with no criminal record.
ii. Ex. Provide alternative menu items or reduce portion sizes
c. Write Guidelines (Select the best option for each ethical deilemma)
i. Ex. Only players with no criminal background will be drafted
ii. Portion sizes will follow FDA recommendations on daily calorie intake
3. Draft Players (Tuesday Nov.17th): Your team cannot draft until Phase 4 is completed and
submitted!!
a. Eight total players
i. Two Guards Starters
ii. Two Forwards Starters
iii. One Center Starter
iv. Three Bench Players (Any Position)
b. Explain your Draft Strategy:
i. Best Players or Best Citizens
ii. How does your Draft Strategy Support your Code of Ethics?
iii. How does your Draft Strategy Support your Target Market(s)
1. Primary and Secondary – Be Very Specific
c. Two Player’s home must be within the Geographic Region of your City
d. Two Players must have attended a College/ within the Geographic Region of your City
e. Player Scoring
i. One Point Each: Points / Rebounds / Assists / Blocks / Steals
ii. Minus One Point for Each Turnover
