Biography Book Report
Due April 9, 2015
Since the genre challenge in the library is biography, you will do a biography book
report by choosing one of the following products and presentations. The book may
be an autobiography, biography, or memoir. Be sure to see the teacher for
approval of the book. We will present the book reports on April 9th, the due date.
Choose one final product to complete and present:
1. Poster – You may do a poster advertising the person.
a. The poster should include the traits and qualities that make this
person someone you wanted to read about.
b. You need to give at least five facts from the person’s background
(such as family, education, hometown, accomplishments, personal
characteristics, and so on).
c. Explain what leadership experience in the person’s field of interest
(sports, entertainment, politics, and so forth) that makes this person
of interest to yourself and others.
d. Include a drawing or photograph of the person.
2. Diary Entry – You will choose three important events from your book. For
each event, you will write a one page diary entry from the point of view of
the person who is the subject of the book. The diary entries should reflect
the famous person’s personality and sound as if the famous person wrote the
entries. Create a cover for the entries and bind them together. The diary
cover should reflect the famous person’s personality and the time period in
which the person lived. The events should answer the following questions:
a. What were the person’s observations of the events? What did the
person see or hear?
b. How did the person feel about the events and how would the person
describe the events?
c. How did the person feel as the event was happening?
d. What did the person learn from the events?
e. How did the person feel once the event was over?
f. How did other people react to the event?
g. What does the person hope the outcome of the events will be?
h. What are the person’s hopes for the future?
3. Time Capsule – You will create a time capsule that represents the subject of
famous person. In the time capsule (decorated shoe box or other small box),
you will include at least ten objects that are significant to the famous
person. The objects can be pictures, actual objects, models, or toys that
represent the objects but NOT anything valuable. You will need to write an
explanation of at least one paragraph (six to ten sentences each paragraph)
for each object and explain the significance of the object to the famous
person. Some of the objects may serve as a symbol to the famous person.
You will need to think like the famous person to decide what is important and
would represent important information about the person. Be sure to write
each paragraph in first person point of view as if you are the famous person.
You will need to decorate the time capsule as if it was from the person.
