Mrs. Turner will meet with all 8th grade students. Curriculum
Course Guides will be distributed in addition to specific course
options for each of the various high schools. Students will need
to complete the planning worksheet at home and obtain a
parent signature in preparation for their final registration card
and/or computer entry.
Mrs. Meehan and the high school AIG Specialists (Angela
Jeffrey and Jennifer Raspet) will conduct individual sessions
with AIG students to assist with course selection and develop
their high school DEPs (Differentiated Education Plans).
Parents and/or Guardians will gather to review ACT EXPLORE
test information and be given information on the high school
registration process this year. ACT EXPLORE test score reports
and test booklets will be distributed to parents.
High School Counselors from Hoggard and NHHS will meet with
students districted for Hoggard and anyone interested in
attending NHHS to discuss course offerings and registration
processes, and answer student questions.
All planning worksheets, with parent signature, are DUE to your
homeroom teacher.
Teachers will review planning worksheets and provide input on
their recommendations for students’ 9th grade academic
classes.
Any student missing information from the planning worksheet
will meet with Mrs. Turner to finalize course selections.
Students will meet in the library during their Social Studies class
to enter their courses into PowerSchool. A print out of all
course selections will go home for parent review and signature.

Friday, March 27th
Students turn in signed course selection sheets/printouts to
their homeroom teacher. Parents who have a question or
concern about their student’s course selections after reviewing
the course printout should contact Mrs. Turner (ext. 212) or
Mrs. Demolina (ext. 213).
High school registration closed – signed registration sheets or
printouts must be turned into the high schools by this date.
We encourage parents to look over this important information, regarding course selections and the registration process,
with your children, and to discuss the course options with your students. We hope that when the students return their
planning worksheet on February 25th, they will have had these conversations with you and that their course selections
will be a result of a collaborative parent/student effort. Please let us know if you have any questions.
Thank you,
Paige Turner, 8th Grade Counselor
