EM Holt Elementary PTO Board Minutes September 15, 2015 On September 14, an EM Holt PTO Board meeting was held at 5:30. India Kingery, our PTO President welcomed each of us and called our meeting to order at 5:35. Members present: 18 Treasurer’s Report: Shanon Lee provided the PTO Treasurer’s Report Cash Balance $25,453.30 Deposits $ 2,575.19 Disbursements $ 2,160.70 Cash Balance $ 25,868.09 (7/1/15) (09/14/15) Announcements: Jennifer Shaw, PTO Secretary read minutes from August meeting. Elizabeth G, made a motion, & Laura B. 2nd for approval of minutes. Shanon Lee presented suggested budget for 2015-2016 school year to Executive Board. Committee Reports: Backpack Program: 1st distribution of food to kids was sent home September 10. The chair purchased food with funds that was leftover from last year. The big food drive will be held at Fall Festival. Please donate any non perishable foods to this program. There is a box in the office for donations. Book Fair: The book fair is set for February 19-26. Volunteers will be needed to help. More information will follow. Box Tops: There will be 3 turn in dates this year. The 1st turn in date is October 21st. Butter Braids: Butter braid sales will be began November 9th, with an expected delivery date of December 14th. Class Parents: 50-75% of teachers have been contacted & the committee chair has reached out to class parent. The committee chair is still working on filling the rest of the positions. Cultural Arts: on 10/16 there will be Spanish dancers & food. The teachers will also incorporate a Spanish curriculum in art, library, & music for that day. Family Involvement: They are coming Wednesday to start installing wall. The new tile wall will be located in front office for all the children to see. Hospitality: The teachers received a WELCOME BACK survival kit already. On October 23rd there will be snacks for the teachers & staff. Mad Science: Mad Science will begin September 23rd-October 14th. It is $60/student. There will be a Mad Science assembly soon & they will have a booth set up at the Fall Festival. Membership/Volunteers: According to our bi-laws, all PTO board members must be members of the PTO. Dues are $5 per member. If you haven’t joined yet, please do so. Merchant Rebates: Remember to RELINK your Harris Teeter, Target, Lowes Foods, & Office Depot store cards. This has to be done each year in order for your school to stay linked. Paw Print: There was a Paw Print printed for Meet the Teacher Night. The 1st Quarter Newsletter submission date is November 16th, with distribution deadline of November 20th. Please provide Renee Johnson with a brief article about your Committee, Committee needs, Teacher articles & any communication to be included in the Paw Print. Please email Renee at rjohnson@gotapco.com and also cc’ emholtnews@gmail.com Spirit Nights: There will be a McTeacher night on November 19th @ the Graham McDonald’s. There will be a spirit night at Yozone, Tuesday, September 15th from 4pm-closing. School Store: School store is now open every Tuesday & Thursday from 7:15-7:45. Student Birthdays: The chair is still working on getting July, August, & September Birthday’s paw bucks distributed to teachers. They should be distributed to teachers by September 22nd. Texas Roadhouse: Be on the lookout for information. Website & Calendar: Please send Jamie Day any updates for the website or calendar. Fall Festival: Fall Festival is set for October 2, 2015 at EMH Football Field. The Committee Heads are still working hard to get donations. If you know anyone who would like to be a Silver or Gold Sponsor to this event, please let the committee heads know asap. Classroom parents should have made contact with parents about donations for their class basket with a themed item. Class baskets are due September 25th. Classrooms are responsible for distributing candy for their class game. Candy is due September 25th. Any student who would like to be considered in the the top seller, top class prizes should turn Fall Festival Raffle Tickets in by October 1st. Fall Festival Cakes for the cake walk are due October 2nd. NO EARLY CAKES please b/c we want them fresh for the festival! . If you can help, PLEASE CONTACT the Fall Festival Committee. If you are able to donate, volunteer time, etc please email emholtfallfestival@gmail.com so the Committee Chairs will have your information. Proposed Projects for 2015-2016 school year are as follows: Steps on field, traffic director, technology program, poster making machine, back playground, CTEC/ACC Tours, technology teacher PT, Tech/Chromebook Cart, Assemblies, Move front playground/expand back playground, Gym Floor Coverings. A survey will be coming in your email soon for a vote on which 2 items you feel is the most urgent need. Next Board meeting: October 12, 2015 @ 5:30pm EMH media center. With there being no further business to be discussed our Executive Board meeting was adjourned at 6:25pm. We resumed into the General PTO Meeting. Ms. Vignali opened thanking everyone for their support to EMH & the PTO. Shanon Lee, PTO Treasurer presented the 2015-2016 budget. K. Kronberg made a motion & L. Breese 2nd the motion. All members present accepted the budget as suggested. India Kingery, PTO President introduced each PTO Executive Officers. Each committee Chair/Co-chair spoke about their committee, committee needs & important dates. With there being no further business to be discussed our meeting was adjourned.
