Kiva Team Presentation Rubric Step 1- Pre-Kiva Reading: Read "Banker to the Poor" attached below Step 2- About Kiva: Go to Kiva.org, begin by clicking the "About" tab. Read the "About Us" and the "How Kiva Works" tabs, both on the left side of the screen. Under the " How Kiva Works" Tab read the "Long Version" Read any additional information in the about tabs you deem necessary. Step 3- Searching for Entrepreneurs: Select the "Lend" Tab at top. Now you will be presented with several different entrepreneurs. You can narrow your search by country, gender, business sector and special interest on the left side of the screen. Each individual in your group should begin by looking at some different potential entrepreneurs before you make a decision as a group. Step 4- Making a Decision: There are a number of considerations your team must make before deciding on who to select. A) Cost-Benefit Analysis: Use cost-benefit analysis to determine which entrepreneur will most benefit from the contribution. Decide as a team who will benefit most. In terms of cost- well, it's my money, so it will not cost you anything. However, some loans are riskier investments than others. Which is why you need to consider the reliability of the borrower and loaning statistics. B) Loaning Statistics- For every entrepreneur, you can see the reliability of the loan and borrower on the righthand side of the screen. Generally the star rating will tell you the level of risk, but look further into the delinquency rate, Loans at Risk Rate and Default Rate. Click on any of those terms on the website to learn what they mean. Risk is a potential cost and should be considered when making your final decision. Step 5- Making a Presentation: Each team will make a 2-4 minute presentation to the rest of the class. Presentation format can include PowerPoint, Prezi, Keynote or Google Slides. You will need to present your candidate for the loan and why you believe that individual or group is most deserving of our class' loan. Be sure to explain your economic reasoning. Furthermore to really engage and captivate your audience I need you research economic problems present in your entrepreneur's country and particularly issues facing individuals living in poverty in that country. Find 3-5 economic issues found in your country. How could helping one entrepreneur help combat a problem faced by an entire country.
