Mecklenburg County Sales Tax Referendum
From The Principal
Greetings! We are now moving toward the end of
the first quarter of school, and scholars are in the full swing of
learning. Thank you for your attendance at our Title I
Information/Open House meeting last month. There will be
several activities throughout the year for you as parents, and
we hope that you will take the time to join us for all of them. In
doing so, you help your child to do better academically, as
research shows, when parents are involved, children fare better
in school! THANK YOU for being an involved Bulldog!
You should have received your scholar’s’ midprogress report last week, which gives you an indication of
where they are in terms of review and beginning the year. We
have just finished the MAP assessments this week. Your child’s
teacher will be discussing the results with you in the upcoming
conferences that are being held throughout the month of
October. Sign-up sheets have been sent home. We ask that
you please return it promptly so the teachers can schedule you
in to talk about the progress being made by your scholar and
the plan to move him/her forward academically. Additionally,
you will be asked to sign a School Learning Compact, which is
an agreement between the school, parents and scholars to
work together to contribute to the success of all scholars.
On another note, you should have received a hangtag if your scholar is a car rider. Please hang this on the rear
view mirror of your vehicle so the car lot monitors can see who
they need to call upon your arrival in the car line. We ask that
you display this tag daily so that we can move cars efficiently
through the car pool lane.
We know that from time to time there may be a need
for your scholar to be absent from school, as there are viruses
and flu bugs that come around. However, we have noticed that
there have been several unexcused absences to date. PLEASE
remember if your scholar is not in school, s/he is missing out on
valuable learning that s/he will not be able to retrieve. Thank
you for helping your child to gain the learning needed by being
in school each day. Remember, it takes ALL of us, working
together to ensure that the desired academic progress is being
made! 
In November, polls will open for voters to vote
on the Mecklenburg County Sales Tax referendum. There
will be a special meeting at South Meck on October 8 @
6:30-8:30 to provide additional information on this
referendum. Also, remember: October 10th by 5:00 pm
is the last day to register to vote. You may find more

their scholars! We will have our 6th Annual Donuts for
Dad program on Thursday, October 9th @ 7:30 am.
Please return the RSVP forms sent home so we will know
how many to prepare for. Thank you in advance for your
attendance and we look forward to seeing you here!!
