Global Scholars Program Purpose The Institute for Global Enterprise (Institute) Global Scholars Program is designed to encourage faculty to contribute to the University of Evansville’s (UE) and the Institute for Global Enterprise’s (Institute) goals of increasing the internationalization of the University of Evansville campus and curriculum. As Global Scholars, faculty engage in scholarship, curriculum development, travel and/or research activities related to globally relevant topics. It is expected that the Global Scholars’ activities will have a positive impact on the global mindset of some of our constituencies, including our students, faculty, administration and the greater Evansville community. The Global Scholars Program is made possible in part by the John H. Schroeder Global Scholar Endowed Fund. Selection Criteria The primary criteria of proposal selection are the excellence of the proposal and the applicability to the applicant’s teaching, research and publication on international themes and the mission and goals of the Institute and UE. Institute goals include preparing our students and community (public, private and civic sector partners) for global leadership, citizenry, and success. The selection committee is composed of the Executive Director of the Institute and the Deans of UE’s colleges. The committee will value research, pedagogical advancement, and development of experiential learning opportunities in the proposed projects. Crossdisciplinary collaboration and global citizenry components are encouraged, but not required for selection. Prospective applicants are encouraged to discuss their ideas with the Executive Director of the Institute and their Academic Dean to ensure a final proposal is aligned with the selection criteria. Award Current funding will support two awards per year. Awards include a stipend of $2,000 and a professional development budget of up to $3,000. Appropriate uses of funding include airfare, accommodations, ground transportation, research materials, and conference fees.
